Would anyone like a very nice AC boy for yard candy or to use in a breeding project? He'd be great for a fibro project. Hatched him out of some eggs from another breeder and he was looking really nice but now he's got leakage showing up in his hackles so he's no good for AC breeding, but would make a really nice yard rooster or fibro project breeder.

Hopefully this works. I've never uploaded any photos before. Here are a couple of the crates that I have made. I plan to add ropes to the square crate to make it easier to carry. I kept the top removable so that I can stack crates and only need one lid per stack by moving the lid to the top crate.

Thank you myfivegirls. They came out of necessity, but I like them and plan to make a few more for myself. They are great for potatoes and onions. The one on the four wheeler is perfect for bringing things in from the garden. We plant about half an acre or so, which means there is always a lot to carry in.

Quote: We had Call Ducks for many years. Now we are trying Silkies. What will you have for Chickenstock? Depending if it is in Rome, Tab....we would go. Harpursville? how far?
need to check it out. We would be interested in getting Silkies. Hear you may have some?
Interesting to read your posts. Regards, Aria

Pyxis, I definitely want some welsh harlequin ducklings or eggs. Are they silver or gold phase? I want silver. What are your prices per egg and chick. I'm hoping to get a friendlier group this time. Last group kept their distance from us. Do you think I should get a smaller group if it will get them to be more under foot like the chickens. My last group I hatched from eggs so I don't think that's the problem. I only want a group of 3 or 4 adults. Also there is a very slight chance I may have some silkies. Probably males. I hatched some and have another group in the incubator now. I don't need 20 silkies, especially Roos. I doubt I will have any eggs for the auction. I might have started plants. I have a nice grow light in my basement. They probably won't travel well with 5 kids in the car. Also how do your AC do in the cold weather. I hear they are not great in the cold weather.

I like the crates. How much?

@Aria I actually don't have silkies any longer. I did have a trio of lavs and blacks but I ended up selling them. I do know someone local with really nice silkies though, I'll see if she'd like to come to Chickenstock, she's also on BYC.

They are silver phase, I don't do gold phase because they aren't an accepted color. They are $5 each straight run or $14 per sexed pair. Eggs are $2 each. Mine a pretty underfoot, lol. I handled them a lot as babies. You could imprint them on you if you'd like them to really friendly. For that you'd want to hatch your own and keep them with you for the first 24 hours after they hatch.

My ACs do fine in cold weather, it doesn't bother them at all.

Thanks Pyxis. How many eggs would you recommend I get. Last time I got 11 shipped and 9 hatched. Only 3 were girls. I don't mind eating the boys if I can get some good recipes. Also do you have any experience with Muscovy? I hear they fly well. I don't want that but I wouldn't mind a trio to try for meat production.

Since these will be local and not shipped and you only want 3 or four adults I'd say six eggs would probably do it.

Muscovies I used to have, and yes, they are really good flyers. Even my drake could clear a six foot tall fence.
