Since these will be local and not shipped and you only want 3 or four adults I'd say six eggs would probably do it.

Muscovies I used to have, and yes, they are really good flyers. Even my drake could clear a six foot tall fence.

Ok put me down for 6 eggs at chickenstock. Thanks. My hubby likes the AC but we are just toying with the idea now.

I like the crates. How much?

I would like to get $15 a crate for them. I use screws to put them all together instead of staples. I've had some with staple and the never lasted. These have held quite a bit in them without any problems.

Yes Muscovy ducks are excellent flyers, even pretty good with clipped wings. I've had females fly I'd say at least 500 ft & like 10+ ft off the ground! That's one of the reasons why I have aviary netting as they'd otherwise invade the neighbors' ponds or go down the Brook! As it is, I had a mom with ducklings escape this past fall. They had a routine - escape in the morning, free range all day & return to inside the chicken yard at night. That worked until the babies couldn't fit through the 2"x4" fence holes & they spent 1 night outside the fence (I didn't know) = no ducklings in the morning but Mama was ok.

The member with silkies has said she would like to attend, so hopefully there will be silkies for sale

As Gramma said, the hen in my avatar is an AC hen, short for ayam cemani. They are all black and very beautiful.

I GOT A GREEN EGG!! WOOHOO!! Once I figure out which of my 2 EE laid it do I cross her with a brown layer to get darker green?

Crossing with a maran should give darker eggs in the offspring that have peacombs too. Straight comb offspring would lay brown eggs.
