I just saw Natureberry farms is getting some Buffs and Black Australorps tomorrow, so if the craigslist thing does not work out that may be an option...

I copied this from their site:
We will have straight run Black Australorp and Buff Orpinton on or around 8/18 for $2 each. PLEASE NOTE THESE ARE STRAIGHT RUN AND OUR GUARANTEE FOR PULLETS WILL NOT APPLY TO THESE BIRDS.

I thought about it, I love my 2 Buffs and would like more, but don't think I want to do day old chicks until next spring...

Good luck!

LOL, no more straight runs for me...I just got rid of 4 roosters and it was way too hard. There are so many roo's that people want to get rid of around here. It's amazing how much noise 8 roosters make. I thought my neighbors would be knocking on my door any day! I plan to stay at my 4 rooster max for quite a while since they can get along..just need some more hens for them.
I bet Jeff beat me to those hens...good thing cause he has 4 more roosters now

Hi my name is Donna , from Orange County N.Y. (Deerpark ). I'm new to raising chickens and it's nice to know i'm not the only one learning as I go.I've done research on the Internet but it's great to have some place to compare my info with others. I have 16 Golden Comet ,(kids named them all) they have their own personalities and they're fun to watch . other than raising them and gathering eggs, don't know what else to do with them. It's nice to know they're are others around nearby in my area.
