Have to ask.

Have you checked your Dryer hose lately. DD noticed our dryer was not working properly. Pulled out the machine and the hose was crushed and split. We pulled everything out and cleaned it out. It was blocked pretty bad.

Do NOT use those plastic or easily crushed metal dryer hoses. I checked out Youtube and learned a few things.

Good thing DD checked or there could have been a fire.

I'm happy that Alan never complains about the number of birds I've collected. I told him I'd ordered poults for the spring, and he said, "I know just where I'll build their house." The only thing I've seen him say, "oh, please, NO" on is piglets, and it's more of a "not yet." He knows it would be a losing battle anyway.

My DH just shakes his head and says "Whatever you think...". He is beginning to realize that silkies take a long time to mature and that they will be with us for a while before decided who stays and who will find a new home.

I pull out our dryer at least once or twice a year, it is about due again. Clean the hose, vent, any and all openings on the dryer with a vacuum and the long dryer vent brush as far as it will reach. Replaced the hose and outside vent the first year we were here. The washer and dryer placement is weird in our house, with a large built in closet in front of the washer. To keep the dryer against the washer and maximize the space, the dryer hose does a couple sharp turns. Less than ideal, but that is why it gets thoroughly cleaned.
Clean the chimney too, and have your furnace serviced. End of public service message...
Tonight when I went to the barn, Ron was still out of the coop. Hubby had left the stall closed, so he couldn't get back in. Not quite sure how he got his big butt out in the first place. When I went to shoo him out of the corner, I found he had a NH hen behind him, protecting her. What a good boy. Unfortunately between him and the 2 GLW boys, the girls' backs are looking ragged. Need more girls.

Fortunately, the dryer here works well and has a good set up (I'm the one with the stupid furnace and stupider stove) my dryer vent is short, as the dryer is very close to the outside wall, the dryer brush can go all the way through. the chickens like to stand by it on cold days to see if the warm air will come on.

My chickens do that too. Sit by the area that the heat from the dryer comes out. There's a shrub there and the smaller ones roost in the branches. You can almost see the thought bubble above their head "Heat, we want heat". LOL

Dumb question, and I think it's okay but I wanted to double check...
Can you give the chickens bird seed as a treat? Are the shells okay?
And sunflower seed in the shell is okay?
Many people give black oil sunflower seeds(often seen written as BOSS) as a treat or scratch or mixed in their flock's feed in the winter for extra calories or to put a little extra shine on their birds.
