NY chicken lover!!!!

Pharm,
I work in the primary school and this is my 7th year. I have NEVER seen the illness as bad as this year has been. Flu symptoms, but also something that seems to be a little different with just stomach and fever. It just keeps going round and round. Hoping that Christmas break will help break the chain.
Dd put the chickens in tonight and didn't bother to count them. So now I have to worry all night if they all got in. She didn't gather the eggs either. And why exactly does she earn egg money??? "But I was coooooooollllllllllllllllld!". Grrrrrr.
This is my DD exactly..."Oh, I was supposed to bring the eggs in?"

It's going to get a lot colder next week!
We got that same fever stomach thing going around daycare. Last Tuesday I stayed home with little girl because she threw up 3 times in the morning, even though she had nothing in her stomach. She was ok after that but seemed off all week. Saturday she had a fever, was fine Sunday, fever again and sent home from daycare Monday, fine today. She doesn't want to eat anything, but is still drinking good. Been getting some chicken and rice soup in too, her favorite. Tonight she asked for carrots, ate 2 small whole carrots, then had quite a few bites of my pork chop. Doctor was stumped yesterday; in the office with 102.9 temp and still jumping around like nothing. She does have swings from normal to tired and back again. Just a few more days till break....

Chickprincess--we ate our problems and they were pretty tasty. Gave the girls their hearts and gizzards and they seemed happy to have their revenge on their tormentors/serial rapists!

All this rain is going to turn my chickens into ducks! It also means I have to keep the coops turned over as it gets damp inside from all the rain we have been having. The damp air doesnt help with the drying process so I am always out there turning things over to make sure I have no problems. Of course the terrorists have to come in to see what I am doing and get into everything. Rir's are the nosiest chickens I have ever come accross! Inside or out, they have to be under foot and into everything you are doing!

Hope everyone is staying well. The flu is going around and we are getting lots of people looking for relief at the pharm. Good thing I got my flu shot. Going out with DD today to have some quality time together. Have to go food shopping as well and get the cheeps some veges and fruit. Have a good day everyone!

Hate these Rainy Days ...Damp ..Brrr Dark grrrr...Wettt...Wet Rat looking Chickens ..LOL This is Motor Mouth our Red

So I have been DYING to know for months ..who are the terriorists ? why do you call them such ?

The flu seems really bad this year.. I work as a triage nurse with only a handful of appts to hand out and no one seems to understand that the docs aren't going to hand out antibiotics for the flu. Plus we would really like you to STAY HOME, get some rest, drink fluids and get better. Believe me, I wish we could 'fix' the flu in time for the holidays, but it just ain't happening.. =(

I work as a massage therapist at a large spa.. I so absolutely LOVE when people come in sick, thinking massage will help them feel better. Now I am not talking about the "end of a cold"type of thing but a full blown viral bug. What makes people think, that anyone work like to work on them? Furthermore, the movement of lymph done during massage can actually make you sicker, depending on how your immune system is handling the sickness.
So, I would like to quote Featherz" STAY HOME, get some rest, drink fluids and get better". (Then come get your massage!!) OK, done with my short rant. Thank you for listening(reading).

Gramma---The terrorists are my 21 rir,red sexlink, br group. When we got them as tiny, one day old chicks, I knew there was something different about this flock. As the grew, I swear they spent their days in the brooder plotting how to get out of it and the best way to terrorize us with their shenanaigans. When they finally went into their coop, it only got worse. I see them checking the perimeter every day and standing around in little groups plotting. Of course they immediately disperse when they see us coming. They also follow us around, getting under foot and into whatever we are doing. I swear they are either trying to kill us by tripping us up or undoing what we are working on! Unlike my silkies or my hens (our first flock of 8 hens who will be 3) these terrorists would take over the place if they could! lol They are very smart sometimes and very pushy. Thats why I like watching them so much.

Featherz--I can empathize. People come to the pharm and ask all the time what they can take for the flu. Im like just stay home, drink lots of fluids and let it run its course. Same thing with colds. Everyone wants a quick fix, a pill, an antibiotic and thats why so many illnesses have become resistant to treatment because of the overuse of medications. Sometimes you just have to let these things run their course.

Problem is, they insist on being seen.. then when they are in the clinic they insist on a Z-pack because "I get this every year and a zpack fixes it right up!". Most MD's unfortunately will just give in. =( I had a huge cold/flu a few weeks ago.. no voice, fever, all sorts of colors coming up and I just dealt with it and guess what, still here. :p It's also the under 60 crowd that insists on the antibiotics and the visit - when it's the 60+ that probably DO need to come in. Ah well. We are off for Xmas eve and Xmas day so I dread the friday calls where everyone needs to get fixed before the holiday..

Perhaps it would help to send this message to their E-mail or FB page? Or Put a sign with this information on the Entry door? I hate these people with a passion since I'm highly susceptible to colds and respiratory things.

Right now the GK's are here from AL and one is coughing and sniffling. I will have to be diligent with the anitbacterial spray.

Honestly I think it would be good if you could give them some Knock out pills. So they sleep for three days.
