NY chicken lover!!!!

Problem is, they insist on being seen.. then when they are in the clinic they insist on a Z-pack because "I get this every year and a zpack fixes it right up!". Most MD's unfortunately will just give in. =( I had a huge cold/flu a few weeks ago.. no voice, fever, all sorts of colors coming up and I just dealt with it and guess what, still here. :p It's also the under 60 crowd that insists on the antibiotics and the visit - when it's the 60+ that probably DO need to come in. Ah well. We are off for Xmas eve and Xmas day so I dread the friday calls where everyone needs to get fixed before the holiday..

Perhaps it's the money? and ignorance on the patients part? Lord have mercy the media and drug ads are a nightmare for me. They show these people supposedly "cured" by arthritis pain drugs and allergy drugs and they just don't do the job the ads claim they do. At least that's my experience.

Then there are those ads that say, "see your doctor".

No squirrels nor mice this am. The mice must have gotten cheese and the cheese in the squirrel trap got knocked off by the rain. Ugh!
There is a big puddle in front of the back chicken coop. Ducks would love it, I'm sure.

Right now the GK's are here from AL and one is coughing and sniffling. I will have to be diligent with the anitbacterial spray.

I have worked at places where during flu season, a " DO NOT GET SPA TREATMENTS IF YOU ARE SICK" sign has been posted. Not at this place. IF they are febrile, then we can opt out,(of WE won't get paid) but if they are just snotting up a storm we are expected to work on them. One woman, left a huge puddle of snot under her face cradle. Then there are those that keep wiping their nose, then complain that the therapist never touched their(germy) hands. Or the people who keep wiping their snotty nose with their hand so the therapist will wash her hands after touching the client's hand, then the client complains or "running water" during the service. Or (same scenerio), but therapist does client's hand though a sheet and client complains that hand were done though sheet. AAUUGGHH!!!

Rancher, don't forget the importance of hand washing, especailly when sniffling kids are around!!!

Pyxis, I know exactally how you are feeling. UNDESCRIBLE. We had
Show Call Ducks for many years. Never had a problem with preditors.

On year we had 20 in our very secure barn. We found all the Call ducks
gone. We never did firgure out what happened. We were devasted.

Fortunately we have many friends, One espically into Poultry. When I
spoke to her about it she said you must fill that barn. She asked us
if we wanted Ducks or Silkie Chickens? We had had Call Ducks for
a long time and decided to go with the Silkie Chickens.

My friend brough us 15 Silkie Chickens and that helped us through
a horrible time. We will never forget the incident and I am sure you
won't either. Unfortunately life has a way of handing us som incidents
we really do not want. I do understand. Regards, Aria

Pharm, Floyd and I have the flu. HORRIBLE. Today was my first
day out of bed. When I went to urgent care on a Sunday (with a fever)
he prescribed Tamilflu. Did not work for me. Just gave me a bad head
and could not sleep.

Now I am taking ibprophen 2 tablets every six hours and feeling better.

Floyd spends more time in bed. Guess it will need to take long than
a cold. And yes, we both had our flu shots early.

You are quite a writer...I enjoy reading your posts. We did purchase
the 5 Silkies the women wanted to sell because of a weasel. Haven't
spent much time with them(because of the flu). They are suppose to
be blue. I will check closer later and let you know. They are black.
and som dark blue. They are pretty. 3 hens and she thinks 2 rooster.
Regards, Aria

Just letting everybody know that my mille fleur cochin bantams, mottled cochin bantams, and lemon blue cochin flocks are beginning to lay. I should have eggs ready around February - March!

county boy-- love the frizzle

Lap-- i've made 3 beanie hats the past few days for the preschool donation box. My orp I am happy to say has started to crow. I've seen him 2x the past day.

I've seen a hawk out sitting in the tree near our quanset hut, just waiting for a chicken. Well ha ha to it I didn't let them out to range.

My brother is still hanging in there. I've been going to the hospital as much as possible. It's hard because my girls aren't allowed in due to the flu. Anyone under 18 not permitted to visit. He has steadily grown weaker and he is so tired. It is always a shock to see him. He still loses weight when you think he couldn't possibly lose more. I haven't had much time to get on the computer.

I hope your antibacterial spray kills viruses too, cuz the cold and flu are both viruses.

Oh Tab, I am so sorry for your pain. I wish that there was something I could do to help ease your pain. My mother died of cancer. She tried so hard to live. My youngest sister was 17 and still in high school when she died. It is so hard to lose someone you love and so much harder to watch them fade away. XOXOXOOXOXOX, Ginny

That is one late crower! Unfortunately the orp girls are not laying here, at all, for a long time now. The blue girl is big boy Ron's fave, she is the only one big enough to support his advances. He falls off the smaller girls. I love the big birds, but certainly not for production.
So sorry about your brother. It is certainly hard to watch them slip away like that. I had one grandpa with pancreatic cancer, the other with Parkinson's. Hugs to you and your family.
