NY chicken lover!!!!

OK here is my lack of self control.

Talked to TSC and someone who knew what they were doing told me the yellow ones were red sex links in the wrong bin. I just hope I get 1 pullet from the Speckled Sussex though. Wanted 1 out of 6 now odds down to 1 out of 4.

It was gorgeous out today!!!!! All the cheeps were out free ranging and still are. Have to get out there soon to lock them up before I let the time get the best of me.

You all are killing me with this talk of chicks and pics of chicks!! Ugh!!!! I want just 2-3 more. I'm thinking I'm going to hold onto all my silkies the chicks are growing on me. Wait and see what I turn out with. I would like to get one or two more orpingtons to go with my two hens. They look so lonely out there. Plus I love the eggs they give us. If I were to add I'd want pullets not chicks.

Oh and I got some good news from DH last night. He talked to his boss yesterday and he told him there might be a good chance if he takes this position we may not have to move after all. Since he won't have a "home store" and will be working on new opens he will be gone a lot but it won't matter where he is living. We have to wait tho and see cuz the owner may want him closer to one particular location for meetings and such. So we'll see...

fingers crossed. That is great news!

Alan is up to six regular egg customers at work. I had wondered why the basket is mysteriously emptying itself on a regular basis.

Heaven help me, I want to go to TSC to pick up scratch feed, as I have a $50 gift card I was given as a gift by some of my colleagues at my old job. I will not buy chicks. I will not buy chicks. I will not buy chicks. I will not buy ducklings either.

To bad you're so far away. I plan to set more eggs in a few days after these. Only plan to keep 3 or 4 of these. Then put as many EE/Amer crosses in as I can get, plus BR's.

So after having some french toast this morning for breakfast, I will definately cross eggs off my list of things to eat.

I know I have a sulfate and sulfite allergy and todays breakfast confirms that no matter how I cook them, eggs leave me running for benedryl and an inhaler. This is rediculous. I love eggs!

I like breathing more though so I guess a girl has to do what a girl has to do. It doesnt pay to get old (er). My list of acceptable food choices is getting smaller but on the bright side it has been good for weight loss!!!

Egg song is ringing loud and frequent in the terrorist coop. Going to be another banner production day today I think. Now if all this snow would melt everyone would be happy. They really need to get out and freerange.

My little Sassy witchy pants is broody again. I will have to see if she is on eggs and mark them so I can pull any others over the next 21 days or so. She is the broodiest silkie pint size hen ever and she has a temper to match. I will let her sit though because she is a very good momma and NOBODY messes with her babies.

Off to another exciting fun filled day at the pharm. Chicken daddy gets to be in charge which means his hens will work him for all the scratch and leftovers they can get. That man is SO owned by those girls. Why do moms always have to be the mean ones???

I recall an Article about a woman who suffered asma reaction due to store bought eggs, but tried her own pasture fed eggs and was fine. Went to a fast food place while on vaca and ate eggs and suffered a reaction. Point being for some it might something in store bought eggs.

I have a friend who buys my eggs cuz other wise he gets sick. Not sure in what way though. You can take the info for what it's worth. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Of course it's different with each individual. I'm allergic to my ex- wife. When ever she's around I break out in psychotic mania. Then she leaves and I'm okay.

ON the chicks front looks like 25/36. Maybe more tomorrow. I'll give them til then and then move them to the brooder after church.

Rancher---I only eat my eggs but my allergies have progressed to the point that even my own eggs bother me. I will stay away from them for a few months then try again. Your allergy is untreatable I think!!!

Dh let both groups of silkies out today at the same time. Little Man (my older roo) promptly let Legolas (my younger roo) know that the realestate they were on was his. Dh had to lock up Legolas group until I got home. Needless to say, I got an earful from both sides when I got home from work. Little Man was a good boy and went back into his run with Sarah so I could let the others out. Of course Legolas had to go running over and taunt Little Man from the other side of the run. Boys. Oh, and now I have two broody silkies. Stripe was sitting next to Sassy and both are on an egg. Stripe got me good too when I was reaching under her to check for an egg. Sigh.

Dh let the terrorists out today as well and I think they were happy to finally get out of their run and coop. They would only go where the bare patches were on the ground. They were happily digging and eating bits of grass. He will have to let them out again tomorrow.

My incubators are working well. The genesis 1588 holds the temp and humidity very well and with my egg turner I havent had to do anything. My brinsea octo 20 is also holding the temp very well and recovers quickly when I have to open it to turn the eggs by hand. My hydrometer shows the humidity is pretty steady. So hoping for great hatches with these two and the broodies.
