NY chicken lover!!!!

I like SS. I do have a single SS hen, her hatch buddies were another SS and an Americana, unfortunately they both were secretly Roos. The three were very close, and the hen is lovely, big, beautiful, and she stays out of trouble. She is smart and curious. She sort of stays by herself, but is not the bottom of the pecking order.

COCK A- DOoODLE DO ! I hope its not a Roo too ..I wish it Good Health !

I have SCORED ! WHHHOOO HOOO !
I got 2 chicks from TSC ! FREE !
They have blue fluffy butts ..
The lady said can I help you with something ?
I said I will take these 2 chickens if they are free ..She said ok you can have them ..
They are Amber links - A cross between RIR & white Plymouth Rock Chicken
I am in LOVE !
Pics tomorrow ..
Pancake is an Amberlink! Congrats!
Thank you. Going to set up a dog crate brooder right now. By the time the rest get here I will have a large one set up in the garage.
Do you have just the one chick? They really need buddies when they are little. Having only one is very rough on it. Good luck!

Pancake is doing just fine this morning! Wow! This little chickie went from being on death's door to being full of vitality. She's running all over the place and chirping like mad. We will go get her buddies this morning. I'm sure she's quite lonely.

I hope she is a she!

ChickPrincess- that is quite the night! Glad you were able to stop the man before he continued onto main road. I agree with Rancher, sounds like Alzheimer's or dementia. So sad.
We went out to dinner for hubby's b-day tonight, right next to TSC. Unfortunately they were closed by the time we got done. Spring fever- the need to grow stuff and things of all sorts. Seed starting this week! Maybe we will need to stop at lowes Sunday, depending on the half-bathroom repaint/replace status, and I can stop over to TSC again.
And the from scratch cake was a success. Or at least I thought so.

Scratch cake?

So after having some french toast this morning for breakfast, I will definately cross eggs off my list of things to eat.

I know I have a sulfate and sulfite allergy and todays breakfast confirms that no matter how I cook them, eggs leave me running for benedryl and an inhaler. This is rediculous. I love eggs!

I like breathing more though so I guess a girl has to do what a girl has to do. It doesnt pay to get old (er). My list of acceptable food choices is getting smaller but on the bright side it has been good for weight loss!!!

Egg song is ringing loud and frequent in the terrorist coop. Going to be another banner production day today I think. Now if all this snow would melt everyone would be happy. They really need to get out and freerange.

My little Sassy witchy pants is broody again. I will have to see if she is on eggs and mark them so I can pull any others over the next 21 days or so. She is the broodiest silkie pint size hen ever and she has a temper to match. I will let her sit though because she is a very good momma and NOBODY messes with her babies.

Off to another exciting fun filled day at the pharm. Chicken daddy gets to be in charge which means his hens will work him for all the scratch and leftovers they can get. That man is SO owned by those girls. Why do moms always have to be the mean ones???

That's great. Let's hope it's not a rooster after all you have done for it

Ditto here. Sometimes a little TLC is all it takes. Babies thrive on being held, even chicken babies.

Today is day 21 here and while the chicks are or have hatched I'm not yet at 1/2. These darn marans are the worst for hatching. I'm really bummed and can't figure out why they are so hard at hatching.

Now so far as I can tell there are three BM's, a couple of Dels, two EE's and mostly black orps. I marked the shells but it's such a mess in there it's hard to count.

Of those that have not yet hatched most are BM's I think. At least four Dels and some orps. Of course I will be setting eggs again after these get done.

I've had the EE hens with the Lavender lover and so of the three hens I hope to get more. Next year, lord willing I'll have more hens to hatch from. All the current EE hatches have been black in color. I do have a young Del and BR pullet in his flock so they may make nice crosses. I notice the bigger hen of the EE's lays a nice sized egg.

TOB, I haven't forgotten you on the Dels.

Of this batch I plan to keep the BM's and one Lavender chick. Not sure if it's a full orp or orp/amer cross. I don't know that either of the blk orps are splits or not. I do have a BBS hen in there too. So maybe it's hers.

In either case I've moved the Lav Amer roo to a coop with all the EE's and pullets. So if anyone gets eggs the will be his and an EE' mom. Though one EE is blue. She's small though.

Should probably cross Lavender Lover with a nice big JG hen. Bet their offspring would lay nice big blue/green eggs.

Sounds like Very Drunk to me ..Good you Stopped him ..You probably saved a lot of Lives

We went to TSC too today - Auburn ( Hubby & me ) had a 10% off coupon so we stocked up on layer for a couple months & Got chick feed .
Asked about Dumor Brand Feed ...Is it their brand & who makes it for them ? Purina does - same thing in the bag..I do love those purina bags though ..
The same thing almost happened to 2 ducks ..Their food & waters are too big for babies ..
The top was completely over them ...She / We saw them before she put it down . thank goodness

10% Off? Where did you get that? I was looking for feed coupons on line last night but every site just took me in circles.

I do have some from the CM calender but they are for horse or dog feed. I don't have either. Next month has two for chickens.

Seems there are a lot of chicken owners and so it's not likely they'll put out coupons to benefit us.

I did meet someone in TSC and gave her my card and told her about us here. I hope she joins. Next time I might just have BYC.com printed on my cards. I've over 200 left to go so it will be awhile.

Ugh same here! Every time I come home and there's a little bare earth I think "woohoo! they will head out tomorrow" --- and then we get more snow. Just give us one stinking weekend where it's melted. And no, I don't even think my snow will melt this weekend - my back field doesn't get much sun. =(

speaking of jobs - still might be looking for a phlebotomist and *possibly* an RN and LPN at mine if anyone is interested. Glens falls area, must be able to pass a lengthy government background check and be willing to not start for a few months until said check is complete. :p I have nothing to do with hiring, just passing on info.

Will be at schuylerville auction today, most likely briefly.. anyone else going? 5 chickens leaving today and I'd like to downsize by at least 10 more over the next few weekends.

Congrats on everyones chicks!

Ready for some baby pics?! Just had two hatch yesterday, three more due Monday I think, then 4 more on Friday!

Chickprincess these are Buddy's babies!
