NY chicken lover!!!!

anyone around buffalo south of buffalo have experience with impacted crop in chicks? my 1-2 week old silkie looks like it has it but crop aint hard at all tried turning upside down to get her to throw up some but nothing seems to eat and drink poos some well the two times I've had her out today. tried to give some olive oil but don't like it put some poly-vi-sol duramycin-10 apple vinegar and probiotic. would take to vet but I don't have the money for that unless someone knows about a fee vet around here or cheap vet like under 20.

Does it look or act sick ? what is it eating ? Chicks can have full crops too ..
I found this ..Hope this helps .
People often suspect something is wrong with a chick or chicken if their crop is full. In the case of chicks or juvenile birds this is usually normal as they will eat quite a bit during this fast growth period. It often happens with full grown chickens as well and is usually normal as long as they all have the same sized bulge. You shouldn't worry unless one chicken has a much larger crop than the rest, or the chicken is acting "funny" indicating distress.
If the crop is "hard" to the touch, the crop could be impacted. This happens when feed is "stuck" in the crop and the chicken can't "swallow" or pass the feed on down to the proventriculous and gizzard.

I caught a weasel Saturday and it already has it's summer coat. It wiped out my entire grow out pen. It was a big male. Took me 3 days to get it but it is dead. I'm mounting it now with my uncle. The difference in a weasels summer coat and minks coat is minks only have a white chin and a weasel have an entire white stomach from chin to tail.
Sorry to hear of your grow out pen. What a disappointment.

Hi Everyone. I'm new to BYC, actually, new to chickens too. I just found this NY thread and thought I'd speak up.. I live in Ulster County.
Nice to "meet" you all!
Welcome!!

I'd be inclined to skin the blasted weasel and throw it back to the birds. Let them eat him/her - payback is a beast.
I keep thinking that I should learn how to skin a squirrel so I can feed the thieving things back to my chickens. I wouldn't know how to start.

From what I can tell it's not going down and it is bigger than the rest by a lot. she does a head shakeing motion and last night opened mouth while doing it. seems like she keeps trying to eat/drink. I posted here also in the er forms https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/758717/rot-impact-crop#post_10775466 . I tried to get alittle olive oil in her this morning. i'm about to leave to ts and get some hardware cloth to build another brooder so she can be by her self. is there anything I can put in the hospital for beeding that she cant eat? I think shes eating the pine shaveings.

Ok so I went to my ts in Dunkirk and bought some more supplys for another brooder. while I was there I talked to the guy I talked to yesterday about my bird and he gave me another silkie. now I bring it home and notice right away that it is way different than the "silkies" I got from hamburg. hamburgs are pink skin/legs 4 toes and have a comb/points on head. this one is black skin/legs 5 toes and smooth head between the eyes. are my first ones not silkies and now I have 1 silkie instead of three?

Yes, Silkies have black skin, and 5 toes with feathers on all toes. Sometimes, Silkies at hatch, may have a pink spot or 2 on their feet, but not all pink, and they turn black as they age.
Silkies also have a Walnut comb, so its hardly noticeable at hatch. If your have a single comb, then they are mixed.
