here's what you can expect.

Rancher

Hey whatta you lookin at?
7 chickens and 1-2 pigeons?? The grey one, and white one behind it are pigeons. I swear rancher you just need some silkies in there. : )

I'm right outside of East Aurora, about 20 mins south of Buffalo.
You aren't too far from me about an hour or so by google maps. I'm down here in Forestville ny. Sadly i'm starting out so I don't have any of the chickens your looking for. I'm starting with 11 birds right now was 12 but had to put one down.

Speaking of pigeons... yesterday one of my husbands costumers gave him a pigeon coop. Yup a pigeon coop! I guess her husband used to race pigeons? I never heard such a thing. But anyways he says it will make a nice home for chickens. Its 5x10, should be big enough for at least 20 chickens. That's one less coop we will have to build :) Gotta love free stuff ;)

That's could be tight quarters for 20 birds in the winter. 10 is a more realistic number in a coop that size.

If anyone wants to offer their thoughts, I have a thread about my sick pullet HERE.
I am just anewbie since I have only had my pullets since August but If it was my hen I would make sure they had ACV in their water, pumpkin seeds, garlic & cayenne pepper in their fermented food. And I would give some scrambled eggs & either ground beef or some other animal protein for a few days. I would also put bag balm or nustock on those bare spots.

Pumpkin seed & cayenne pepper are natural dewormers. Garlic will help with their immune system and the ACV will help with their intestines and increase the good vs bad bacteria in the gut. FF will also accomplish this

So sitting there with my leghorn on my lap it made the chip brawk sound. Funny thing is I don't know if I want this thing to be a roo or a hen. I wouldn't mind some white eggs with my brown. But also thinking have it as a roo maybe better than one of my silkies for defending alittle against what may come around. Man why cant they be older already so I could tell what the heck my chickens are going to be lol. I'm already eyeballing more chicks.

I have a funny feeling within the next two years I may be divorced with a farm or at least a lot of chickens lol.

My fiancee had the look of "what the heck is wrong with you!" when I came home with 12 more chicks the other day. We live with his mother and thankfully she was all "we can sell the eggs for over $3 a dozen? Bring on the hens!"

LOL My neighbor across the street put up her egg sign last week and I noticed she raised the price of her eggs this year to $3 a dozen. Last year she had them going for only $2. We get a lot of traffic on our road with it being a state route so a lot of people stop for them.
