NY chicken lover!!!!

Tab, about your breakfast casserole.

Do you use frozen Tater tots or thawed or cooked?. Is the sausage the already cooked kind or to you cook it first?

Jlaw, glad your daughter is doing well. Hope she gets completely fixed.

Why are there never any Old Husband tales?

I work with Seniors every day. Old Husband's don't have tails, they are kinda all shrunken and shriveled, so they don't qualify as tails any more.

Well, 5 week old chicks are out in their own section of the coop. Many of my hens and the roos went to the fence to check them out. One of the roos was picking things up and trying to call to them. It was so sweet. They are still way smaller than my other chickens, so they will probably be in their own space for awhile.
The few day old chicks went into the garage. Nice to get them out of the dining room! I put TWO 250 red bulbs on them to make sure they stay warm enough. It's supposed to get down into the 30's tonight. I'll shut it off during the day. They were very happy to have all the extra space. I love watching chicks that little flap all over trying to take flight.
It took forever to clean the back section of coop. Old straw from back in the fall pretty much glued to the floor. Eeeeewwwww. I will never use straw again.

Coop update: Roofing going up on storage unit section today; thank God for good weather, but still slow going when hubby has an inexperienced person helping (read: me) who doesn't like heights.

It's looking good, though. More shingles to lay on this section next, so I'll be forced to continue confronting my fears...

Would it be safe to bring out 3 week ish old chicks tomorrow if we really hit 70? They're just starting to feather and I'd bring their heat lamp out with them.
