NY chicken lover!!!!

I certainly wouldn't bring stuff to sell to an auction and expect to make any money but if you go as a buyer you can get some good deals. You really have to preview the stuff though. Someone had a rooster that was labeled as a BR but it had a beard. So yeah you have to be careful. The biggest sellers were the turkeys. Some went for $60 each. I may bring some roosters sometime since we have way too many. $5 is better than giving them away. I wish I could find someone to buy eggs, I have 20 dozen in the fridge and I've already given some to everyone I know. I have a sign by the road and I put an add on Craigslist. I don't want to have to throw them away.

I ended up working seven out of the past eight days, so I've been worse than worthless today and didn't make it to the Nassau sale - I couldn't get up the energy to leave the house.  So, the Berkshire Farm sale it is!  That's OK, though - I didn't need to be led past temptation twice this weekend.  Once will be enough.  :D

I thought Nassau sale was Sunday the 28th. That's what my flier says. Did I miss it?

I never throw eggs away. If I can't find someone to take them (can't do CL, I am not home enough and it's not worth it for me to drive out and meet someone for $2.50), then I will eventually boil them and feed them back to the chickens. I also freeze several jars of egg whites, as I use whites a lot in various recipes.

I've got about 20 doz in the fridge now, probably 30 by next w/e - so off to the auctions they go. Will rehome chickens soon, as I just can't use this many eggs. :)

pyxis---Setting 27 isn't bad at all we set 30 eggs at a time and the frigabator has been holding 96 at a time the past couple months. Go for it!

jlaw--The delawares of rancher's make a good dual purpose bird. They're quite meaty. The roo I got from him 2 years ago is beefy, hence I call him beefcake. I haven't butchered any, but I've heard people that have say they were good with plenty of meat.

Speaking of auction we're sending some roos to auction in west winfield today because we don't want to feed them and I'm going to send some fertile hatching eggs too just because I want to see what they go for.

xovan--Earlier this spring you said you were looking for a BLRW roo. We are sending 2 to auction this morning that are 2 months old. If you read this post this morning and are interested in either of them PM me.
