NY chicken lover!!!!

The buff barred twins and there 3.5 month old sister-

And the parents-

A black mottled chick and 2 blue mottleds-

And the Mille Fleurs-

A splash-

And my Silkies chicks- she has 3 more

Love the babies, it always cracks me up to see them feather out it looks painful to me LOL. Love the silkie mother I know my one would be a good mom, but my other girl I just wonder about her hee hee.

Can't be- Silkies have black legs, 5 toes. Maybe a Barred Rock?

Agreed

Hahahahaha.. Well, the splash one was broody 24x7 that one year before she went to you. The darker one never went broody. I guess it's her turn now.

Love that pic!

Rancher,

Shane and I finished reading a very entertaining older kids' story called "Chicken Feathers" last month. It was not babyish, but would obviously be an easy read. I liked the contrast in main characters: the young boy and the crusty, wise chicken (who likes beer). Check it out some time. Hope the link works, below:

I'll have to look it up, after my next book. I think I'm going to read Gone With the Wind. I wonder if Scarlett is really the witch the movie made her out to be. Kinda like James Deans character in East of Eden. I read the book and he was not that kind of rebellious kid. Nor was the father a bible thumping nut job.

I just like to read and the occasional kids book is fine as long as I read.

RIF = Reading Is Fundamental

Kids who read are better at math and do better in school. Parents who read have kids who enjoy reading.

I'll have to buy Chicken Feathers. A good book that I like listening to is "Love Ruby Lavender". The person who narrates it does a very good job with the voices. You have to get it. I first got it on tape at the public library.

I'm a huge reader, and no matter how late I get to bed I absolutely have to read before I can relax enough to fall asleep.

I got Chicken Feathers from the library; if you've got a library card, you can request a hold on the book online and they'll call you when it gets to your branch. That's how I'm getting a lot of my chicken reference books lately. I read through them quickly and then get another one or two. Tons available if you do an online search through the Onondaga County Public Library site.

What's "Love Ruby Lavender" about?

Thanks will have to do a search and see what I can download for my nook. I love my nook well not so much the nook but the app I read on my computer and ipad also.

Ok so I thought I had enough roosts in this brooder for my older chicks. I guess I was wrong. One is sleeping on the door which gaps out alittle from the wall so is sleeping on a 3/4 in plywood and a 1.5inch board with the hardware cloth right there. Now my other chick I don't know how she did it but she is actually sleeping in the brooder light, which I have turned off all the time now just haven't moved it out. The two wires that cover the bulb to keep birds away is what she is sleeping on.

Oh wife's little bantam is getting some little cheek poofs. I cant wait for all my birds to get done growing and feathering I want to see how they are all going to look.

Good Morning. I'm wishing that I could have a few more hours of sleep. The girls spent the night in their own bed last night. Woot woot! My youngest is still there while my oldest woke up at 2am. My youngest has said she is going to get that dream light pillow before her sister. So far so good.
