NY chicken lover!!!!

Thanks will have to do a search and see what I can download for my nook. I love my nook well not so much the nook but the app I read on my computer and ipad also.

Ok so I thought I had enough roosts in this brooder for my older chicks. I guess I was wrong. One is sleeping on the door which gaps out alittle from the wall so is sleeping on a 3/4 in plywood and a 1.5inch board with the hardware cloth right there. Now my other chick I don't know how she did it but she is actually sleeping in the brooder light, which I have turned off all the time now just haven't moved it out. The two wires that cover the bulb to keep birds away is what she is sleeping on.

Oh wife's little bantam is getting some little cheek poofs. I cant wait for all my birds to get done growing and feathering I want to see how they are all going to look.

jlaw.... As I was telling Rancher, "Chicken Feathers" is a kid's book, but it is not a baby book. It's an amusing read for grown-ups too, so you and your daughter could read it together. Cute story...

Can't believe the chicken in the brooder light! I guess any port in a storm, as they say! If it had been turned on, you could have enjoyed some KFC this morning!

Poofs, huh? Is your wife's bantam a little Ameracauna? Must be cute!

Good Morning. I'm wishing that I could have a few more hours of sleep. The girls spent the night in their own bed last night. Woot woot! My youngest is still there while my oldest woke up at 2am. My youngest has said she is going to get that dream light pillow before her sister. So far so good.

Oh, I remember those days (er, nights)! My just turned 12 and if he is having a bad night, I might still end up in his room for an hour or two! Hang in there!

good morning off to walk into work super tired but I was able to run a full 5 mile today since my surgery I have my final doctor's appointment next week!

That's a beautiful bird. Are you going to name it? I took lots of pics yesterday of the flock free ranging but I used my phone so I need to put them on the laptop before I can upload them. This new phone wont allow me to do it. Maybe I will find time later.

Thats awesome! Wish I could 5 miles. The most I can do is 2 without passing out!

Just got that dream light pillow for my daughter who has two night lights on in her bedroom along with wanting me to leave my work room light on at night (it's across from her bedroom). She never lets that thing go! And my kids are not attached easily to toys so I don't know what it is with this thing but it's the best money I've spent on a toy yet! LOL

JLaw - Cute birds! Looks like they're almost ready to go outside! Have you brought them out yet? Or is still kinda cold near you? It was 54 already this morning, I'm loving the warmer weather! These allergies tho? No so much!

Brought my son to school this morning and though I haven't been seeing as many deer in the morning, I have been running into turkeys all over the place! As I was on my way back this morning two darted out in front of my car, I hit the brakes, went to the left, turkey went the same way, went to the right turkey followed, just as I got to it it flew up and over my car with it's feet dangling right in front of my eyes. That was quite the site! I swear these animals have a death wish. You were safe and sound over in the grass just stay there and wait for me to pass! Geez!

Bright, sunny and warm today! My allergies kicked in this morning already and all I have is benedryl which knocked me right out Sunday evening so I wont be taking any of that while I'm working. Good thing I got the coops cleaned out yesterday. The ladies are all out today they seem to be getting along. It's like they've been together for years.

I'm a huge reader, and no matter how late I get to bed I absolutely have to read before I can relax enough to fall asleep.

I got Chicken Feathers from the library; if you've got a library card, you can request a hold on the book online and they'll call you when it gets to your branch. That's how I'm getting a lot of my chicken reference books lately. I read through them quickly and then get another one or two. Tons available if you do an online search through the Onondaga County Public Library site.

What's "Love Ruby Lavender" about?

TOB

When I first looked into chickens I took out everything that related to poultry/chickens, even movies and children books.

Love Ruby Lavender is about Ruby and her relationship with her grandmother. It starts out with her grandmother and her rescuing three hens from a chicken farm that is closing down. I don't usually listen to books on tape but this was an exceptional reading.

I used to play books on tapes for the kids at bed time and they've informed me that they have fond memories and that it helped them to listen.

It's my tradition of sorts to buy everyone a book for Christmas as one of their presents. Now they are reading to the grandkids before bed. Even though I am not the best of readers I've learned some things from them too.

DW doesn't have a copy of GWTW, so I'm reading M. Clarks "Just Take My Heart."

When Ruby’s grandmother, Miss Eula goes to visit her new grandbaby in Hawaii, Ruby is sure that she will have a lonely, empty, horrible summer without her in boring old Halleluia, Mississippi. What happens instead? She makes a new friend, saves the school play, writes plenty of letters to her favorite (and only) grandmother . . . and finally learns to stop blaming herself for her grandfather’s death. Not too bad, for a nine-year-old. Winner of numerous awards and included on seventeen state reading lists.

You really must get a CD player and buy them books with a CD for them to listen to as they fall asleep. Don't go for the Disney things. I bought cheap cuz that was all we could afford then.

Syvester Stickle Back and Muffy hears a mouse or something like that. Frog and Toad are friends. Just simple stuff. It may take some time for them to get used to it but they will love it. Mine still talk about it and one is trying to find the books they listened to for my GD.

Believe me you'll thank me in the morning,

Rancher

OH lots of pips going on and a few peeps. Day 20 so they have a while yet.

well came back to comp while eating so I get to reply woot!!. I've taken them all out like 3 days past week or two and a couple randomly. Mainly the 3 white birds since they're a week or two older. Also wifes little bantam since it seemed to get it's feathers in faster than the reds.

As for reading I love science fantasy type with wizards witchs dragons ect. I also loved Shades of grey. It's a kids book not to be mixed up with 50 shades of grey. Here is a link.
