NY chicken lover!!!!

Cass ..its not like they are a Predator . Most Jehovah's Witnesses...would be on their way if you told them its been a bad week & its not a good time now .
They volunteer their own time , & money to try to help people who are interested in learning about the bible .

I think one or 2 of the Samatras is a roo

The short version? I used to be a JW. They have a "new" bible, though they will tell you it's the same as your King James. It is not.

I am polite but let them know I'm not interested. Except for the morning they had my 13 yr old son at the the door. Then I let them have it with both barrels. DON'T try to convert my kids or tell them things I've taught them is not right.

Sorry I always say to much, I'll let it drop.

One of my relatives used to be a JW. He says they will go away quickly if you mention you are ex-JW. :)

Spent the day fixing my moldy wall chicken coop. Whew! All done. :)

Well the latest Del chick born was murdered. I had not considered the youngsters in the coop would hurt it, but they did. I had hoped the EE hen would have protected it. Another hard lesson learned.

I now know I need a youngster coop. The mother has finished brooding and is back on the roost.

This rain is driving me crazy. The ducks must be in heaven. At least those who have ducks must appreciate this weather.

Rain , rain go away, like to California and the west.

Just untill you build me one of these for the family to live in also.

after I build us one. We live in a mobile home on a foundation with 2 additions I built onto it. And my workshop is a 1965 mobile home. We could use a free caretaker to take core of the property tho
Im glad you caught the chick in time ..
It adds a new dimension to the term Chick Waterer ?

Love the detailing on it ...knew it was yours when I saw the pic .
Does a Standy mean you cant stand up in it ? 5 ft tall ..arent you taller than that ?

a standy means a stand up camper. This is not a standy. It is a place to sleep and sit. We camp, not RV. So we sleep in it and ride out bad thunder storms in it. That's it. Otherwise I'm parked in front of a fire cooking and drinking coffee. All day and night long

. And yes I'm 6 feet tall

Put me down for one too. Gotta have two bathrooms though. I expect DD to be here for a long time, unless Pr$nce Charming comes along.

I can't keep up with this thread.

Just checking in. Managed to get some post holes dug before the rain started. AND some smalls trees cut down. Paid Jesse the same $8 an hr I'm making. So I'm basically working to pay him to do things I can't.

Chickens doing ok, no losses on the chicks. I may put some EE under the BR hen since she won't give up and folks will most likely take those. Right? They should come by the end of July.

ta, ta for now,

Rancher, oh I wish it would stop, raining Hicks.

FYI, skeeters were NOT part of the original world. I could kick Adam and Eves butt!
if two 5 gallon buckets filled with sawdust will do as a bathroom....

today's progress

Get the bandage off and the neosporin wash it with some soap and water and let it heal. Bandages create warm moist sark environments which promote bacteria growth plus keep it moist not allowing it to heal. Unless you have an active infection neosporin is actually bad and even if it is infected you need to keep off the good tissue it will break down good tissue. When original wound happens wash it and then you can apply neosporin as a preventative just once but if you cleaned it well no need for that even. Your soreness is probably the neosporin doing it the slight redness that was around those scratches was just the body doing what it it was supposed to do it was part of the inflammation process. Okay can you tell I was an infection control nurse for a while LOL,

Ah! So dh was told correctly!

I remember it making sense at the time, but couldn't remember the reasoning.

That's what I would like to do. As I said I don't want them to go to waste and I know they would be good to eat. I guess I just have to get over the culling them part. Once they are dead I don't think I would have a problem it's just getting the courage to do the first one...

Aqha..I bring mine to berkshire view farm to be processed. They are about an hour away and while I have no problem eating them, I really don't like to kill them. If I had to, I would. They taste great!!

Stony the camper is gorgeous and it would be a standy for me as I am 5ft. You can put me down for one of them houses too but like Rancher I need 2 bathrooms Momma don’t like sharing with all her boys.

Pharm I hope you got to rest that ankle today

Metella Welcome

Daisymaemoses welcome

Rancher I agree I have had enough of this rain isn’t their somewhere else that needs it?

I had a productive day supervised hubby building me a Rabbit Hutch he is almost done with that ran out of screws so to Lowes we go in the morning to get the screws and some grass seed to put where they just got done building my barn. We had cleared some woods away and had some grading done so that the water will not stay in the chicken area but now I need to put down grass seed so that some of the chickens can go in there and rip up the grass anyways LOL!
Spent part of the day putting in fence for the ducks I sure hope they can go out soon they are getting cramped in the tote.
Ok a few questions first of all does anyone know where I can get Lavender Orpingtons?
Next question is everyone is talking about culling their roos how do you do the initial part do you use an Axe or what?

Hope everyone stays dry and here to hoping that it doesn’t rain tomorrow or at least waits until the sun has gone down.
