NY chicken lover!!!!

I'm going to add wheels this weekend to make it easier to move. My barred rock who is busy eating bugs to be in the picture already laid an egg not 24hours in their new coop . Not sure how I like the open nest box but it seems to be working ok so far. I"m going to add a vent at the top but for now cool air comes from the back bottom and the hot air leaves through the front top. Sorry the yards a mess it's been a 2 year reno project that should be finally done next year at least the fence is up this year! I honestly fear two legged jerks than four legged predators I hope I make changes in my neighborhood though!

Living on Butternut Creek we have tons of snakes. We're also wooded on 3 sides if you count the woods across the street.
Thanks. The big boy will be 13 this year and the crazy Sheltie will be 2.

Chris

We live on Butternut Creek too, but only have one kind of snake. The dreaded "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! snake." That's what I yell when I see a snake as I sprint across the yard.

Seriously as long as they move out of my way they live. They rise up to strike and it's shovel time.

Ants, lots of ants. Making me crazy.

We don't seem to have the ants like we did in the spring but the girls like to sit over their nests and eat em as they come out of the holes.
It's funny. That's the same sound my wife makes as she runs across the yard too :)

Nice! I'm going to be starting mine next week, hope it turns out as good as yours!

Miranda the silver blue americauna has passed. RIP pretty girl.
Should I do a preventative deworming on the rest of the flock? She was never fully integrated with the flock, only spent the night in the coop twice and didn't free range with them. The 4 young roos are in the Eglu she was in, so could worm them, but don't want to lose egg sales due to withdrawal.
