NY chicken lover!!!!

I watched a good show on netflix last night called My life as a turkey. It was about this naturalist who ends up raising 16 wild turkey chicks from incubation to adulthood. It was really good.
I saw that too! it was interesting. Wish I had that much time to walk around the woods!

I am missing 6 birds. When I went out to put them to bed, all the adults were in place, but only 3 teens and 3 babies. Looked all over for them, but couldn't find them or any sign. Nothing this morning. They had seemed fine earlie in the day. Maybe they will still turn up, but I wonder. the girls seem subdued.

Lynzi, I have Eprinex you could use. It is a big bottle and there is plenty. Your silkies would take even less per bird than the dose I have written on the bottle.
Pm me if you want to swing by.

Hope they turn up for you.

I hate the not knowing.

Thanks, Princess. I've been walking around yet again looking under everything and found the Wyandotte's feathers in a couple of small clumps, and a couple of blonde feathers from a BO, so I think at least 2 won't be coming back. Gonna put them all in the pen and put up the electric fence. With the grass growing so fast I have been loath to use the fence...too soon old, too late smart.

Sorry to hear about your missing chickens...I hope it doesn't turn out to be a total loss after your findings this morning. Hope the rest turn up. Thanks for the offer on the eprinex! I'll probably take you up on that offer if it'll save me the trip out to TS. I haven't been going many places as of late with how hot it's been. So if I don't need anything else out that way I hate to make the trip for one thing.

Don't give up on them! When I had those awful dog attacks, the chickens went pretty far - I ended up finding most of my flock all the way across my property and across a small street. Some didn't turn up at all when I looked, and slowly came back over the following days. They were hunkering down somewhere.

It seems like 6 is a large number for an opportunistic predator, so I will keep looking. Thanks Pyxis, and Lynzi.

I hope they turn up. You're right, 6 does seem like a lot. Hopefully the rest were scared off and just went into hiding.

Chris
