Have you researched a breed you want?

Tractor Supply in Schodack has chicks. Or they should....mine does in Glenmont...and other BYCers report their Tractor Supply have chicks also.

Glenmont had Red Sex link...they are good layers...but I don't know what they have in stock current, cuz I am BANNED

from going in there until the coop is done.

(It's coming along nicely, however it is freaking SNOWING out there today, so no work on it until we can go out without snowpants and winter boots)

Does anyone here have a phone number or know Patty13637? The number I have says the mailbox is full and that she doesn't always check it and that if she doesn't call back in 12 hours to try again. I've have been trying to get a hold of since Saturday afternoon. I have her chicks from Hinkjc farms and I'd like her to come and get them.

I've tried e-mail and PM but no response. I'm getting worried. She did pay for the chicks so it's not a money issue. I would have thought she'd have given me a call to set up a pick up time.

Hi there from Rockland. I was beginning to think that all of the NYers were upstate and I was the only nut down state. Even though it was snowing today, mine was outside and were fine. I only have a roo at the moment and I bring him in more because I am afraid of preditors than cold. I know I am going to have to change that thought next winter when I have 10. Thats a little too much to have inside.

Tomorrow works fine for me. Would love to give you the tour! My new babies are sooooo teeny and cute!

Last time Don delivered my eggs, he was very apologetic because they were supposed to be held for pick-up. Only three out of thirty hatched.

Rancher ---- Noah suggests wearing a wire egg basket on your head to keep the silkies from taking over your mind. He did that yesterday & said it worked pretty well!

Have they started hatching yet?

Welcome to all the new folks! Chickens are awesome! They are like chips...one is never enough!...pugs are like that too...Now if you guys what to learn to process I can ask my in-laws they are good at it and maybe they would offer a "class"...just a thought...

24 new babies from our hatch this weekend. We had 6 of the 30 that made it to lockdown not hatch, opened them last night. 1 of them (golden cuckoo) had a messed up beak so it was probably a blessing that it didn't hatch. It never would have been able to eat.
Now the bator is clean and warming back up so we can load it back up tonight. We got an old incubator (big round and metal) off of craigslist in the fall that I'm thinking of giving it a test try because I have more eggs than will fit in my new one.
