Cleaned out our chick barn yesterday too. Took 5+ hours. That's alot of poo! Looks great and smelled like clean shavings, until I let them back in their pens. Now we have about an inch or so of snow. C'mon!

I had three coops to clean out last week (spring break) and could only make it through 3/4 of the last one. I'll clean it out once completely on our next break but 75% of it is fresh shavings. I just couldn't take any more of it!!

tgrlily --- ain't no way anyone would eat a Silky. They would hypnotize them into chopping their own head off. I tell ya, I don't trust them. DW is complaining "where'd all my tin foil go?" I designed one hat with antennae so it deflects they silky thoughts into the atmosphere. Took a whole roll. When I wear it in the living room we get more channels on the tv though.

happy - I bagged up some of our poop and offered it on CL for free. Got a few people who inquired about it.

Have a nice wet day everyone.

One of my coworkers is offering to buy my poop shavings - fine with me, since I already spread the fall shavings on the areas I intend to use for gardening..(composted, plus they sat all winter). I don't know what to ask (there's probably a good truck bed's worth) , but I'm thinking of asking them to just buy me a bag of feed.

Bag of feed sounds like a deal to me.

We cleaned all our pens yesterday, but didn't sanitize like I want to. At least they all have clean shavings and it smells better. Now for the ducks. The ducks seem to be way messier than the chickens.
Just waiting for the last stragler eggs to hatch and then we'll be reloading the bator again. There is nothing like the sound of new born peeping!
