NY chicken lover!!!!

Armor - good to know, i had moved the crate next to the coop for a week or two, then i just let her free range by herself for a bit then put her in the tractor with the girls with lots of food scraps. Well she being who she think she is was being the boss. Her big personality is probably what got her in trouble in the first place.

TAB glad your doing ok. I cant wait to see a pick of your roo. I have a golden leghorn roo but not as nice color as his brother. But im trying to get eggs like you. Mine is lookin a bit rough my barred rock wasnt feeling him at first and ripped a few feathers out lol. My girl was not bowing down to hom for nothing. But he is patient with her and she is coming around.

So i clipped my welsummer's wing i was super nervous my 10yr old was like clip more mom and i did and then i stopped and it seemed to be enough no flying cant have her in my neighbors yard. I felt aweful but she didnt feel it and no neighbors were bothered by her!

We heard the hawk so we just put the kids back in their runs an lil bit early dont think they minded. Ate tons of bugs, table scraps, and weeds they were full and laid down to sun bath in the last bit of sun.

I put the light in a guy gave to me he updated his chicken setup and gave me some stuff.

Yeah thats my welsummer she saw me and had to say hi.

lordy, got done hosing out the coop (18ft x 7ft ish) spraying chlorox on everything today, trying to fill in the new stone on the floor with sanitized play sand and a layer of pine bedding over that for the girls, still need 9 more bags of sand to finish. the ducks who get 1/3 of the area only get shavings on dirt. everyone enjoyed the freshening up and completely new bedding. it was funny to watch the girls claim different spots in the bedding in the boxes. the ducks gave me the look when I locked them in their area tonite. they have been allowed all summer to socialize with the chickens nite and day. quack quack--lets get back on winter schedule.! have a good nite everyone!!!

Got an egg from my buff orp today! I was watching them from outside the netted area today, saw her resting inside the nestbox of the coop and thought she was going broody again! Couldn't help but wonder how could a hen who hasn't been laying go broody? I had already grabbed an egg from my BR hen, Agnes out of the nestbox earlier. I went out to the nestbox after returning from picking up mums this afternoon and found another egg in there! I out it aside with the other eggs I've been holding onto. I decided I'm going to try one last time at another hatch. Especially since I have the brooder on the porch with the heat lamp hooked up so once whatever chicks hatch are feathered they can go out in the brooder under the heat lamp. I don't think I'm going to get much from BR. Her eggs are very porous and I don't believe those eggs are good for hatching.

Don't mind me skipping to the end. I saw this post and wanted to say hi from Conklin ny. (Last town before pa down 81 south. ) started reading until I noticed I've got a few years catching up to do which may take awhile!
