NY chicken lover!!!!

I just have to laugh at my good luck with the TV ads that kids have to have everything they see... my almost 4 year old granddaughter has been raised with a DVR, most of her programs are prerecorded... she hollers Commercials are on! the instant they start, and needs to have them fast forwarded... she knows nothing of what's being pushed on the public for purchase... when something special is on, and she's forced to deal with commercials, we do jumping jacks til the show returns...

google chrome user here too, no inappropriate ads, although it's annoying to hover over something 1 sec too long so the ad covers my entire screen...

on the rude note... I've read threads that had posts that were so mean - one in particular... someone had taken the time to copy and paste someones CL ad looking to place their spring chickens elsewhere as they had not considered the cold weather on their NH mountain, no insulation... only to post "can't fix stupid..." followed by a litany of mean spirited replies. I found the ad, her # was listed... I called her... took me one or two minutes to tell her to keep her flock, keep it ventilated but block drafts. she was so grateful, but when I posted such on that thread... that I had a minute to help someone, very few people had the courage to say anything nice, actually the nice people sent me a PM rather than take a chance of being belittled on the thread... that particular thread was closed by mods not long after...

rancher... get your tin foil hat on... I have a Silkie... from my last hatch. of course, I have no clue if it's pullet or cockerel, it's only 6 weeks old... but after reading a few posts back about how long it takes for them to color in... mine's white, glowing brilliant need shades to look at it white... but white was not a color listed for those hatching eggs... so I'm curious as all get out what s/he will look like in the Spring...

I never take anything personally that someone says. I always like the advice that everyone here gives. I can use it or not use it. that is our choice in reading and posting. I wish I had seen the negativity because I don't put up with that crap from anyone. I appreciate everyone here even tho I am pretty new to the website. no one should be afraid of posting anything.
lordy--
also, I DO NOT get the ads popping up either.
nite everyone.

Hi all. :frow

Thanks for the feedback on the pop ups / ads.  I ignore most of them and they don't really bother me -- it's just that this particular one is downright disgusting.  Not sure how to report it, but I guess I should do so.

I am a technology buffoon, so I'm also not sure how to change my browser setting to bypass pop ups and such.  I will talk to the hubby.  He might be able to help.

I've noticed the ads often relate to other searches you have done on the Internet. Like this summer when I was searching for a vehicle, it was always Cars.com ads. Or now that i am looking at dogs, searching Petfinder and the like, I get ads for Purina or other dog related products. And chicken stuff always mixed in. So unfortunately it may be something in the computer search history. We use both Internet Explorer and Google Chrome on the laptop, so Hubby's sites in Google don't overlap mine in IE. Mobile site is nice because no ads.
ETA: I shouldn't say no ads, but they are a unobtrusive ad bar, not flashing pictures across the screen.

Anyone want to try and hatch out some free cortunix quail eggs? I set a couple dozen eggs 3 weeks ago, nothing hatched, set some more last week, looks like nothing is growing.

Not sure if it's a fertility problem, or an incubator problem on my end....but if someone has the room and wants to try them. I'm located in Delanson (West of Schenectady and Albany).

I dont get the ads when I use chrome at work. I do get them when I use my Ipad at home. Tiny banner adds at the bottom that make it hard to reply & quote since it hides the button. I have never really looked at them tho

Are quail eggs the same as chicken eggs where you can crack one open and see if it has the "bullseye" on the yolk to tell if its fertile or not?

Well my mean sebright roo is finally gone...I was away on business and my dad was watching him. He went after him, put his spurs right into my dad's leg, he had enough, grabbed his shotgun and now he's gone. Good little rooster with the girls but mean as heck.

I called about getting the 4 roosters processed, will cost $30. Yep, going to find an Amish guy to do it or give them away and buy store bought roasters for cheaper.

I got 4 done for $10 near Albany. $30 is just stupid.

AQHAChick, where do you get your birds done?

I'm actually not sure! I really don't know much about quail! I bought the eggs off of e-bay and hatched them. I'll crack some open when I get home.
