NY chicken lover!!!!

I'm actually not sure!  I really don't know much about quail!  I bought the eggs off of e-bay and hatched them.  I'll crack some open when I get home.

Ohhhh...I was under the impression that these were your quail eggs, from birds you already had. That's odd then, if you bought and paid for fertile eggs then they should be fertile. I don't much about quail eggs myself either and I'm still new at hatching so I wouldn't be much help there :-(

I got mine done at Berkshire View Farm in Hannacroix. They are very reasonable and quick. They did a decent job, no major complaints except a bunch of feathers on one bird and organs of some sort left in another.

I've noticed the ads often relate to other searches you have done on the Internet. Like this summer when I was searching for a vehicle, it was always Cars.com ads. Or now that i am looking at dogs, searching Petfinder and the like, I get ads for Purina or other dog related products. And chicken stuff always mixed in. So unfortunately it may be something in the computer search history. We use both Internet Explorer and Google Chrome on the laptop, so Hubby's sites in Google don't overlap mine in IE. Mobile site is nice because no ads.
ETA: I shouldn't say no ads, but they are a unobtrusive ad bar, not flashing pictures across the screen.

Yep, that's true on my general internet search site, but not relating to BYC. I haven't googled anything with a remote background to "Chinese Love", trust me.

Right now, as I type this, I am looking at something below that says:

"BACKYARD CHICKENS IS PROUDLY SPONSORED BY:

ADULT FRIENDFINDER . COM : Explore Your Fantasies" [with a snippet of an erotic picture visible]

this is right next to Manna Pro ad!

I somehow doubt that BYC is "proudly sponsored" by trash like this. At least I hope so.

Unbelievable...

Well my mean sebright roo is finally gone...I was away on business and my dad was watching him. He went after him, put his spurs right into my dad's leg, he had enough, grabbed his shotgun and now he's gone. Good little rooster with the girls but mean as heck.

Well, AQHAchick, sorry about your pretty roo. But it sounds like he was a bit of a jerk, eh? Is your Dad OK? I guess he won that rooster fight!

Wow, yea sounds like you need some sort or ad blocker on your PC. Do you have any kind of Norton Anti-virus on your PC or something along those lines? There's usually an option to block ads in there somewhere. I use Google Chrome as my web browser cuz my explorer never works fast. If you have Chrome, you can download a free "app" to block ads:

Good luck with the quail eggs i dont have my incubator set yet.

So no eggs yet i bumbed up protein put a light in the coop im getting impatient. Lol any suggestions would be great. I do preventative worming, lice, and mites. I locked them in the coop/run to make sure they were not laying elsewhere. One might be molting but the others are not. My son even did an extra check on the roo in case he had parasites but he was treated by a vet with prevetatives before we got him. And do the same and my son came up with nothing.

Anywho my neighbor across the street needed his truck jumped this morning and i did it and he tried 3 times to give $20 im like no your my neighbor i got your back. Dont get me wrong since i have no eggs (which is a big part of our diet) i could use the money but no way im taking it from my neighbor.

Ads are annoying i use google chrome works well.

People can be mean in threads i feel we all can be civil. I usually just post here for any questions or concerns.

Back to work, fingers crossed that there are eggs when i get home, take care have a good afternoon.

He was a very nice rooster to look at but he was very loud and very mean. My dad is fine, he sprayed the cuts with some bactine and put some neosporin on them. I warned him everytime he went into the run or into the coop to bring a stick or something to keep the rooster away with so it's his own fault. I've been debating getting rid of that rooster for awhile anyway, getting attacked from behind was never fun. Or not being able to go walk around outside without having to watch my back. Fortunately I already have 3 other very nice roosters and I'm sure the hens are happier. Speaking of roosters, if anybody is interested in a 3 month old Welsummer roo let me know.

Just shipped one of my baby buns off with its new owner. 3 more to go! I have 11 eggs in the bator, waiting for one more from my BO today and then the rest layed from here on will be going to the fridge. So I had the run to my bigger coop placed up against the silkie coop for the last week with the two chicks inside but no doors open letting the bigger silkies/frizzles inside the run. today I removed the run and placed the round pen outside the coop and opened the door and everyone seems to be getting along nicely. Haven't heard one screech from the chicks so thats good. Everyone seems to be keeping to themselves. My lavender hen is out in the pen soaking up the sun.

Beautiful day to be outside!!!

Sorry for the confusion. The original stock came from eggs I purchased off of e-bay. The eggs I'm trying to hatch out are from my now adult birds.

Oh so these ARE from your birds...yea I would crack one or two open when you get home then and see if they have that fertile "marking" on the yolk - IF that in fact works the same way it does on chicken eggs. I just googled and found out yes you should be able to tell by cracking one open and seeing if there is a little white "disc" on the yolk.

"To check the fertility of your eggs without incubating them - crack them open on a saucer and look for a small white disc on the yolk."
