NY chicken lover!!!!

Some get too big for their britches ..
I have never had any real problems with my Roos ..just minor peckings which were corrected immediately

I agree, I've had many Roos and the sebright was the first mean one. Other than that I haven't had a problem. I have one that follows me around when I'm outside because he knows I give out the scratch.

i have a very good Sussex roo(pictured in my avatar with my grandson) and his spurs are dangerous looking, but he is a good roo. my problem will arise with the 12 week old babies I have that I think I have 6 out of 8 being roos. it shall be interesting. I will be getting rid of most of them if anyone is in dire need of a rooster in a couple of months.

Well my mean sebright roo is finally gone...I was away on business and my dad was watching him. He went after him, put his spurs right into my dad's leg, he had enough, grabbed his shotgun and now he's gone. Good little rooster with the girls but mean as heck.
Make sure your dad gets medical attention. I have a friend who was spurred by a roo, ended up in the hospital with a severe infection and was very ill.

I read in the paper today that Tabitha had her baby girl yesterday...Congrats Tabitha & Travis!

just clean the wound really well and clean it daily. I have been spur'd a few times. Once the entire 1-1/2 inch spur went all the way in my leg. Clean it well. I don't do doctors unless needed. Last time I went to the doctor was in 2002 to have my appendix out. ANd I LEFT THE HOSPITAL WITH A STAFF INFECTION!. So no thanks on medical attention. I'll take care of myself tyvm

. My cousins fiance is a nurse. She went in for elective surgery. Lap band. The surgeon screwed something up and stomach juices were filling her cavity. She would have died EXCEPT she is a nurse and KNEW something was wrong.Nearly stopped her heart. After 3 weeks of intensive care she was finally stable enough to go home. Seriously, the hospital she works at nearly killed her. No thanks on any medical attention unless it is seriously needed

Thats my dad's view. He hates going to the doctor unless absolutely needed. He's just been cleaning the wound and keeping an eye on it. It seems fine. I know if the doctor tries to guilt trip me into getting a flu shot one more time I wont be going back haha

My aunt is an RN and my friend works in an ER, I call them with my medical questions before taking the dreaded trip to the doctor these days. I can't even stand the kids Pediatrician. Last time I went there the doctor actually looked up something online to try and figure out what it was my daughter had. I was PO'ed. Left there saying You know, I brought her to you because I ALREADY tried looking it up! Ugh

Yeah - I will only go to the hospital when not going could kill me .... figure one way or the other - right?

Now, I WILL go to my local doctor - in a clinic for normal blood work and check up - and to specialists - like dermatologist and such ..... but to just go for little things? Way more dangerous than not. It is a sorry state when this is a large reaction to hospitals - I think they focus more on insurance law suits than good care anymore ....

CONGRATS TAB ! !
