NY chicken lover!!!!

I feel awful. Featherz was nice enough to give me a sweet little cochin hen and I had her in my workshop area to get her used to my cochin pair that she was going to housed with for the time being. My chicks were also in there. I guess I didn't secure her pen well enough because she got out and killed one of my buff barred cochin pullets and one of my faverolles pullets. Plus, I think the stress has caused one of my other two faverolles pullets to develop wry neck, sigh. Poor little birds, I should have been more careful

Oh no, I'm so sorry Pyxis! Anything you can do to try to save the other two from the wry neck?

You feel awful, think about how I feel! I sent over the bride of frankenstein! =( She really seemed like a shy sweet little bird - and she's just a baby herself, not even a year old. Went broody right after laying about two eggs - maybe it scrambled her brains. =(

I wanted to rehome her because after she had her babies, the other hens picked on her so much she would fly out and wander around in the woods.. not good for her survival chances.. :(

I have to say i love my e-books over paper books any more. All books are auto discounted some and they offer free or cheap books also. There are some books i cant get but in paper though but same with e-books. The main thing i like is i can ready anywhere. I have app on phone, ipad, computer, wifes laptop, and my sister uses my account where ever she goes. Not to mention kids cant destroy my book collection.

A few series i've read first book was free or like 2 dollars via e-book. So get the app and search for your free/cheap first book then go paper for rest if you prefer paper. Just another way to save some.

I don't have apps or e-phones or any of that stuff. It's a luxury and expense I'll forgo, even if I could afford it.

My gk's in AL, broke my dil's nook or what ever it is. I have complained to them about how lax they are in teaching their kids to take care of things.

My gd here is taught not to destroy books so it's not a worry. Plus before she goes to bed she gets a couple of stories read to her. The latest is "Dream Snow" by Eric Carle. You can't push the little button at the end of the book with an e-book.

I just bought it for half price just about and had it shipped directly to my gs in TX. His mom's a teacher so I know they'll teach him to take care of his things.

Some books I get second hand at the second hand book store. Also some books are out of print like, Cranberry Christmas. The authors have passed away too. We've always read to our kids and now they're reading to theirs.

I just thought there might be someone who doesn't know about the Barnes & Noble membership card.

Pyxis ! So sorry ! :( I know you have some wonderful plans for next year .... what is wry neck ?

That hen must have felt out of sorts from the move, and since she must have been one the biggest - maybe it was her way of controlling her situation. So very sorry.

Kids e-books are more interactive than a button most of them have a read to me function for if parent is cooking book can read to them. Some light up the words as they go and most have somthing for the kid to do like touch the cat and will meow or move. They let you read aslo with out the read to me function.

I figured alot of people didnt know about the free/cheap books through the nook app. You dont need a nook or phone or tablet you can have it straight to your computer. Alot of aurthers on there that cant get published in paper or dont want to because they want the books to be cheaper. Alot of people think you need the nook to get them when all you need is an account.

I dont have problems with kids destroying them now that they are older. But my problem is paper backs falling apart after so many reads. Hard covers hold better but cost more.

Have you tried amazon i know i use to buy paper books off there they would bundle series or pair up simular books for a discount.
