Now I have to tell you, I had a Del hen who was dragging some time ago. I thought she was egg bound but since she was roosting and eating I left her alone. Other than making sure they all got wormed and I did dump some grit out for them.

Well she is a laying fool right now. I separated her to the recoup pool with a rooster who was there as he was weezing, but is fine now, but she is laying pretty darn good for this time of year. Not every day but I'd say 4-5 a week.

I've another hen I might put in there too since she seems picked on, though I don't know why.

Oh and I also had a BM lay a double yoker too.

It's been a busy couple days. My dog Cleo (10 1/2 yrs) didn't eat all week and I saw her try to poop with no success. I brought her to the vet on Friday. She had xrays done. I opted for the surgery because I refuse to give up on my dog. I hugged her goodbye so they could prep her. That was the last I saw her alive. The doctor when he got inside discovered that her intestine had twisted cutting off blood flow. She had 2ft of dead tissue. He could have removed it but because it was so close to the cecum successful reattachment was not likely. He offered me the possibility to take her to a specialist in Syracuse but told me it could cost upwards of $5000 (It cost $777 for what was done). Survival not guaranteed. I could have had him close her up and took the family to say goodbye. I couldn't wake her up to be in pain just to say goodbye, that would be selfish on my part. I chose to have her just not wake up from surgery. Travis brought her home and buried her yesterday.

I am so heartbroken. She was the first living thing solely dependent on me for care. She was my first child. This year has been just awful. My one shining star event of the year was having Nora.

Sorry if I missed anything. I didn't read the posts I missed. Now I still have to make 18 somethings for the pre K gift exchange and 14 somethings for the kindergarten exchange and cookies for both also.

Tab - total hugs ....

2013 has been the worst year for me and so many I know around me - like a cursed year but it is almost over.

We have to have the new-borns to keep faith going, but I'll be so glad when the year is up. My special dog is 15 now and had verigo so bad that for two days she is walking sideways and head always held cocked .... she is still smiling and eating and playing - so I'm letting her be - but her time is close. Just don't know how I am going to bury her.. we have her hole dug but the way it was done we don't have much to put on top of her .....I won't talk about that event after it happens for 6 months to a year. That is how I handle such sharp grief.

You did right by not waking her up again.

I'll give my girl a pet in honor of yours.

EGADS over a foot here so far. Just had to go slog through it all to all three coops. That's one heck of a lot of sno! Got tired of lugging water and put snow in the heated water bowls to melt because I was just cccccold. I didn't expect that much here - we never get 1/2 of what everyone else gets. :p
