These Boys Sure are Pretty ! I would love a Hen ...They are around 5 months ? their tails arent fully grown out yet .
Did you hatch them or buy them somewhere ? were they straight run ? thats alot of Boys !

Gramma -
That pic is about a month old, tails are filling in. They are straight run chicks from WorthIt Farm. I really love them, despite my gripings. I'm sad about dispatching this much quality genetic material in an important breed just getting established in North America. They are beautiful birds. My sole hen is a lovely cinnamon color with some black neck feathers. Love her - she is a comeplete doll.

Lord have mercy it is cold. How cold is it?

The roosters have all frozen their cockle doodles doos off.

Is it ever going to stop snowing?!? My gosh, and not a single delay with school in the morning either! My road is never plowed good so I wake up dreading bringing my son to school, not only because of the snow but because of the deer that dart out in front of my car while I'm driving (At least twice a week) and the mountain I have go up to get him to school. Going up isn't so bad, its making it down safely...Tuesday Snow Rant is now over.

I don't even open the door anymore to the chicken coop. No one is coming out so why leave it open so thats its colder in there. I put there food inside and managed to squeeze a container for water in between their food and the wall of the coop so it doesn't spill. I actually use one of three nestboxes for food/water since they only use one of the boxes to lay their eggs.

I feel so bad for the ducks. They wanna make it out their pond but they stop every 5 steps to lay down and tuck their feet up under their wings. It wont be long before they are back in their coop.

What a mess this winter is turning out to be! Stay warm everyone! It is freezing out there!

Morning all. Picked up my baby from the airport last night. Very happy my aspiring pharmacist is home. Now Im just waiting for my aspiring ceo to make it home. Having my 3 girls home is all I need for christmas. Its snowing here because we need more snow...not. Cheeps refuse to come out. Dh stayed home. He was kind enough to open the doors and bring them water this morning since I didnt get home till midnight from the airport. Cold here but not as cold as up north.

I see there is talk of a picnic. Any details? I would love to go if its not too far away.

Rancher---havent you heard of measure twice and cut once? I like my fake tree. I kinda like your idea of the wall tree and making it a forest for the year until its christmas!

My new muck boots should be here today if the delivery guy can make it up the mountain. I hope they fit. I desperately need something and dh told me to go ahead and order them.

Guess its time to motivate myself. I still have the hind quarters of the doe to process then firing up my canner and dehydrater to can some meat and make some jerky. My little girl desperately wants some jerky. At the rate she eats it, I need about 4 more deer just to satisfy her venison tooth!

Be safe if you have to go out and stay warm!

Lynzi -- our southern Onondaga County roads have been craptastic for days. Not enjoying it at all. Yes, winter is certainly making its presence known this year. Most of my laying flock gets out into the covered protected run on and off all day, but I haven't bothered letting them out into their big pen. Only one Sussex will venture out there, even for a little while. Hoping we get a break/thaw soon.

Love the place mats!!!

Sure is cold. Last day of hunting season and I don't even want to go out there. Got lots of tags left and an empty freezer but I don't think freezing is the way to go. Well it isn't completely empty.... I got one with my bow.

Everyone throw another log on the fire and stay warm!
