So I says to DW in getting the tree, don't get one to big cuz I don't want to have to cut a lot off. We have 7' ceilings here, (which I prefer being short). I said about 6'. So I went out to cut the tree and put it in the stand to bring it in. How tall is it? 8' !

Next year I'm getting a pet Beaver and just have it gnaw the darn thing the right height!

I have seen those artificial "half' trees that you hang on the wall. I'm gonna get one, stick it on the wall and leave it up all year. Just take the trimmings off and stick some house plants around it. Instant inside forest.

I swear that woman's trying to kill me.

lol I thought of making a half tree didn't know they already have them. we bought a new fake tree this year think it's 7ft but prelite so only have to fold branches down really and move them where I want them.

OMG you just crack me up, I think your wife married you because she will always laugh!!!!!!!!!!! Your a trip, but good points.

I'm so tired of shoveling my hip is not working with me I had to park my truck on the street gotta shovel the driveway. My cheeps got everything shoveled for them and they don't care UGH meanwhile I'm too tired and sore to do the from of my house.

Laugh yeah, You mean like the time I shoved a fork through my middle finger and needed to have surgery, the time I was cooking steak? Oh yeah that was funny. Ask her about it if we're both at the picnic next year.

lmao that's why I'm a barbarian and use my hands to eat steak lol as for cooking its tongs or flipper for me.

has anyone talked about the picnic at all yet? I know there was one this year and we was talking about one on here but I didn't get to go any where this year.

Welcome to the insanity. Can we get a wider pic of your set up?

It doesn't appear I have any wider angles, but what you see in the previous pic is inside the hoop house you see below. We normally have hardy greens and root crops growing for us in these hoops, but the insanity you reference consumed all available time this summer, thus preempting the necessary sowings for our winter vegetables. Had anticipated being able to introduce a cockerel or two into the main flock for this winter (they have a separate coop/run), with the culls going into the freezer. C'est la vie. They're enjoying the hoop, in any case. The little coop in the previous photo was just for grow-out/tractor use this summer, and you see how that has gone. Yes, insanity! One way or another, I will be sowing spring crops in this hoop toward the end of February without the companionship of eleven cockerels!

I have several very high quality Marraduna Basque (Euskal Oiloa) cockerels available if anyone is interested before I post them on CL. Haven't decided fully whether I'm going to keep one or whether I will postpone starting my breeding flock of Basques for another year or two and send them all to the freezer. Of the dozen chicks I raised this summer, 11 (yes, ELEVEN) of them are cockerels. I moved the poor little hen into my egg laying flock weeks ago. It has dampened my enthusiasm for this breed, at least temporarily. The birds are all gorgeous, and all but two of the cockerels appear to be of excellent breeding quality. Would be happy to let some go to an interested party. Pic from approx one month ago

The chicks were curious, super friendly, and great foragers from the get-go. No health problems, so far either. I like the fact that they are on the Slow Food Ark of Taste for Spain (as a meat bird), and they are allegedly good layers. Right now, it is difficult to tell how I like the cockerels -- a lot of hormones and shenanigans going on in that group right now. The hen is an absolute sweetheart, and to be fair to them, all of the boys are fine under the circumstances. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks miquwid! You should see it inside when the winter vegetables are going -- heavenly! That hoop produced a bumper crop of chile and sweet peppers this summer, and the boys certainly are enjoying it. Basque cocks can get up to 8lbs. These guys are five months old today, and there is some variance in size. I'll try to get a weight on a couple of them this week.
