NY chicken lover!!!!

Ok. Like i said had me confused some. Bottom looked like frostbite because i didnt see a scab or plug. How is that top bubble doing did it drain also? Good job btw. Aint it fun digging in a foot lol. Ones i did was bleeding more was a surface bumble foot starting not blistered up at all.

The top was the same thing. I didn't even think to search images before coming on here and asking you guys if it was frostbite. Once I googled pics of bumblefoot I knew that's what it had to be. I must have caught it early enough tho for that chunk to come right out that like. If it had gotten any worse I would have had to actually dig at it in order to get it out and I wouldn't have last 5 seconds doing that. I couldn't even get thru the first 2 minutes of the video on how to perform the "surgery".

Wow great job. I would have to say it probably was not bumble foot. My girls had it and it was one spot with a hard core in the middle. I am guessing maybe she got some frost bite on it and it bubbles. (my other guess would be a burn that blistered since skin does peel after burns) but since its so cold out I  couldn't figure out what she might of burned it on.

I would put some nustock or coconut oil on it and change it every couple of days.  Coconut oil is my new favorite for injuries/infections.  It heals things so fast. Even on people :)

So cold it burns. Mine looked kust like the bottom after a day or two of frost bite. The top was what i didnt have on my girl. I was trying to look up frost bite blisters to see if any looked red like her hens top blister but i got more human feet frost bite pics than chickens.

Good job Lynzi. Looks good. I had to do that several times on one of my hens only hers was deep and I had to dig out the hard yellow stuff. Keep it clean and wrapped and it will heal up well.

Lynzi, I have no experience with this, but to my untrained eye it looks nice and clean. It is probably going to be a bit tender because she lost all her callous.

Waiting for people who are more knowledgeable to chime in

Well after seeing the "chunks" they were removing from the bumble foot pics I was researching, the clear puss/gel that was in the middle of this foot had some "hardened" spots around the edges. That's So that's why I was thinking maybe it was early stages? If it WAS frostbite and I did what I did, will it still be ok?? Is it a good thing or bad thing that I messed with it if it was frostbite?

With out the plug and skin peeling like that i'm leaning more towards frost damage. Bumble foot is infection inside healthly skin so you have to cut or pop the plug. Frost bite skin is damaged and will easly peel. Thats why they say not to rub frost bite or you rub the skin off.

As for the jelly i dont know how a chickens blister from frost bite heals. So going jelly may or may not be normal. The blister could have been infected. Thats what i hate about working on my chickens its almost a guessing game with out any training and using google.

Well I'm hoping if It WAS frostbite, I didn't do anymore damage. It's clean, it's covered and sealed so no dirt can get in there, I put an ointment on it to keep it from getting infected. If it was frostbite and I left it, I imagine it would have turned white and then black eventually and fallen off? No? So maybe it's a good thing I took care of it?
