Sooooo Bored! I wish I had a larger, less creepy, somewhat finished basement so I could build a coop...or something...LOL
Yes, cabin fever abounds in our area... I agree!

Not sure what you mean, but . You can see the two nails on either side holding the doorway in place. Once I had them positioned is used some metal strapping to secure them in place. The previous owner left a roll of this in a drawer and I cut pieces and screwed it over the bar of the cattle panel. You can of course use whatever you have that will work. Perhaps bend the nails over crosswise. As long as it keeps it from moving. I used heavy duty hammer in staples to secure the cattle panel to the floor at the bottom. Those pics are helpful. Thanks fore taking the time dig them up.
What did you tie the top in with?

When I woke up at 5:30 nothing was closed so went back to bed. Got up with the alarm at 6:30 and everything was closed. When the kids and I went out to plow at 10 we had about 6 inches and our road hadn't been plowed since 5:30. It had let up a bit until around noon, and now it is coming down like crazy again! I shoveled out the run this morning, but I'm going to have to go out again here in a little while.Lord have mercy they closed all the schools and it is nothing. There is no snow here at all hardly. I will have to snow blow but there can't be more than 3-4"s out there. Perhaps my memory fails me but I don't recall this many snow days when I was in school. And we had to walk to school up hill both ways.![]()
Sorry I might not have been clear. What do you secure the cattle panel to the 2x4 frame with? A large staple?
I used something like this, but there are U shaped nailing staples too.

I'm glad that we are home and don't have to go anywhere except down the road to plow the neighbor, but DH is still out on the road coming home. He called just before 10 when he crossed into NY, then called again at 12:15 and he had just came into Buffalo. (Doesn't take that long, maybe 45 min, normally) He said that the Thruway was really bad. He has been driving for years now, but I'm always a nervous wreck when he is driving in crappy weather like this.![]()
I remember when I was growing up, and lived way up north by the lake, the school buses had tire chains. Don't do that any more....My dad (well he was my stepdad) used to tell me when I was younger about when he went to school and had to walk up hill both ways in bare feet to get to the train station to take a train to school..He actually went to school in a one room school house! (He would have been 83 this year)
Quote: I have used that roll of plastic strapping in my hoop coop as well. It holds my roosts to the sides of the coop. And I used the same staples for the base. Those suckers are a pain to pound in but the cattle panels are not going anywhere either. And we have moved the coop a couple times and the staples have held tight![]()
