NY chicken lover!!!!

Speaking of Chickens not going out ...Well I shoveled a path from the coop to the deck ..
It snowed soooo much ..they were stuck under the deck ..& didnt want to come out ...

So I had to shovel again so they could get their treat & go to bed ! SO Funny

Morning all! Its crisp out this morning and all the boys were crowing their demands for out! Feels like its going to be a nice day. Louise met me at the outside water bowl for our morning chat. I didnt see any prints of any critters around this morning except for the neighbors dog, who used the paths last night. Bassett hound tracks are very distinctive. I hear lots of people complaining about the snow. We needed it. It gives good insulation and it fills up the water tables in the spring.

Off to work. Have a good day!

Thought that the last two eggs were goners, haven't heard a peep from them and the others hatched Monday. First one egg was clearly dead, grabbed the second one out of the carton and there was a beak. It's upside down though. I removed some shell on impulse which in hindsight was probably a bad idea.. The egg was a little dry so I wet it down and filled the water up at the bottom of the incubator.

They say to not help them but to be honest sometimes I just can't help myself. Only thing is, it usually ends in disaster, with me having to deal with a chick. Don Schrider of the Back yard poultry said he drops un hatched chicks in a jar of water to end it all. Now that might be a cruel thing. To me it's easier and faster to stick them in the freezer. They succumb very quick and I think less cruel.

Anyone else surprised by the Sub Way news? Had I known I would not have eaten their food. Wonder what other stuff we don't know is in our food.

Had Nutella for the first time yesterday and read the ingredients. Reads more like a liquid chocolate bar than a Hazelnut spread. I've got to read the labels more. I don't think I'll be buying jar of Nutella.

The news says temps going up to the double digits by 9am, but the temp went from 7 at 6:30 down to 5 and now at 2*. Crazy weatherman.

You are aware there is a series of books about Louise ? She's quite famous.

Speaking of water bowls two things.

One TSC had a heated dog bowl clearanced for $16.99 but I didn't buy it since I'd have to carry water anyhow and the water seems to stay liquid pretty much.

Second not so funny. I use a rubber mallet to break the ice out, from yesterdays water, so there is a pile of ice next to the coops. Well as I was whacking the bowl a big hunk of ice flew out and smacked me square in the knee cap. Boy did it hurt and for two days at that.

Ok - I do NOT expect anyone here to buy or do anything about this - but I felt I had to give a plug to my stuff as some of your are parents and grandparents and the kiddos may just like this. My books are all uplifting with good social values put in there. They are both in paperback and kindle.

I have one book out aimed at young girl readers from ages 7 to 12ish ...Diary of a Celebrity Horse Trainer http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...n:283155,k:Diary+of+a+Celebrity+Horse+Trainer I really like this one as the paperback has cool flowers in the background of each chapter start - a very pretty look behind the words.

I have one book out today ! aimed at young boy readers from ages 6-11 ... Chris Cameron and the Stolen Goat (done with an Old West Flavor) http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...=n:283155,k:Chris+Cameron+and+the+Stolen+Goat I like this one because all the places are real places - and the prank played was a REAL one I got from interviewing a 93 year old guy. It is tons funny.

A thumbs up on Amazon and a good review really go a long way to putting my books higher on any search list.

Ok - thanks for the indulgence of the plug !
