NY chicken lover!!!!

Yea, our digital outside thermometer read -12 when I got home from work this am around 7:30am. I had to lug all the garbage out to the road by hand because the can is frozen to the ground.

So over this winter!!!!!

I can't wait for Spring either! I was just telling my friend last night, best part of this year is going to be not having to work in the morning and being able to get outside in the morning and plant and water and tend to everyone in the warm morning weather! Love it!!!

My husband is picking up the hygrometer for me today on his travels.. he says " well where is the incubator gonna go? in the Baxter building? " HAHAH hes so cute little air force brat still wondering what planet he is from. God love him he puts up with all my projects.

So after I was done laughing, explained the purpose of the incubator again and reminded him its like zero degrees out there... told him the incubator will be located in the dining room :D

Well the ground hog may be wrong, but the chickens are laying more so that may be a good sign. I'm checking for fertility. The incu is clean and set up. Now to put the turner back together and order my eggs.

Yesterday I planted some seeds I had left over from last year of lettuce mixes. I put vermiculite in half eggshells and a few seeds in each. Don't know if any will sprout...old seeds not treated particularly well, but it made me feel good. If they do sprout, I will put them in containers so I can have some fresh young greens, I love seeing those pretty pots of lettuce in the spring.

The snow was so heavy last night that I only took two runs, worried that I would fall and shatter. Today it is probably great, all nicely groomed.

Metella, Congratulations! Please do tell us when you have successes! It makes me happy to hear of people working at their passion and having it do well!

I snow blowed the path three time yesterday. Once last night in the dark (sort of the spot light was on) just cuz I wanted too. I like to go zipping around the paths with the snow blower. I did the drive this am and man was it cold.

I do need to shovel the snow I shook off the tops of the hoops over hangs. It gets weighed down some.

I bought a plastic cover for my seed tray and plan to set up in the back bedroom. DW is supposed to use it for her sewing room but has yet to move in. I turned on a heater since it gets cold.

I've got to get moving on that. I just can't decide whether to buy plants or start my own. Lately all the mik jugs around here are white non see through.

I'm planning to go through my back issues of magazine, hobby farms and the like. If anyone wants them and wants to pick them up or I can check to see how much to mail them "media mail" I will send them out. IF you will pay the postage.

Anyone interested?
