Your Roo is a speckled sus right? That is what mine is. He is so great with the girls and is great with my kids. He hasn't ever had a moment when he has came at me. That may be cause I let the kids chase him and every time I have picked him up as soon as he knows that I have him he calms right down. Then it is funny, when I put him down he stops and looks at me almost asking if I'm done with him. I have even picked him back up just cause and he let me without a problem. Then it is like as soon as he knows that I'm done with him he walks off and checks on his girls to make sure that they are all there. I just felt bad that he got so frostbit this year, but I was checking him out today and it looks so much better. I still think that he is going to lose all his points but that doesn't bother me and at least I won't have to worry about it next year.Whew .... good timing for you to get to them before nightfall ! I bet they were miserable.
Mine just won't even leave the hoop coop right now. Good thing I fussed over it and decided to make it 3 hoops!
Oh- and the fox bait chickens (hen & roo) have been integrated well into the flock. I knew Magic was a calm roo - so I didn't worry too much - and true to form - after a little kerfluffal with them all - he takes to staying up on the ladder most of the time - out of the way of the others - comes down to eat and such - I have watched - but he is not interested in strutting around. I am sure he will be very happy when he gets free range time each day.
Head roo just breaks up all the fights and purrs so sweetly at me - like come get this tasty corn .... I really really like this guy. I really need some speckled sus hens for him. He has a great coloring, size and attitude.
