NY chicken lover!!!!

Anyone ever order from Ideal Poultry?? They seem pretty reasonably priced and don't charge a whole lot for small orders like other places do.

As a matter of fact my first chickens ever came from Ideal. They were easy to deal with and all chicks arrived safe and sound. I order 8 breeds for a total of 25 chicks. $85. They came around the end of Feb. the 25th I think.

A couple did get weary and that's how I ended up here. Looking for answers. I put them in a box, lid slightly closed , so they could rest, by themselves, with food and water for a couple of days. After a couple days in the dark they were fine. Chicks are babies you know and all that action can stress them out.

Anyhow sure order from Ideal. That's where I got Frenchy and she's still with me. Going on 5 or 6 I think.

Came home from the library to screeching and I think that Falcon was back. Same time as last year I believe. I saw what looked like it flying in the same direction as last year too. No deaths thank the Lord.

I do. They're always great and I rarely have problems with chicks from them.

So I'm taking the opportunity to shovel during my break between school and work. I go out there and my MF cochin roo Truffle is stuck in the middle of the run in snow too deep for him to move in. Silly bird flew from the coop to the run and got stuck. I looked everywhere for his girlfriend and couldn't find her. I started to worry she had gotten buried in snow or something until the dog found her, under a tree in the yard. She too flew out of the coop and landed in the yard and couldn't move. Poor girl must have been cold, and she might have been there all day :( At least I found her alive and whole.

Whew .... good timing for you to get to them before nightfall ! I bet they were miserable.

Mine just won't even leave the hoop coop right now. Good thing I fussed over it and decided to make it 3 hoops!

Oh- and the fox bait chickens (hen & roo) have been integrated well into the flock. I knew Magic was a calm roo - so I didn't worry too much - and true to form - after a little kerfluffal with them all - he takes to staying up on the ladder most of the time - out of the way of the others - comes down to eat and such - I have watched - but he is not interested in strutting around. I am sure he will be very happy when he gets free range time each day.

Head roo just breaks up all the fights and purrs so sweetly at me - like come get this tasty corn .... I really really like this guy. I really need some speckled sus hens for him. He has a great coloring, size and attitude.

They were all crazy today. One, Cracks (you know Cracks) flew over to the gate while I was bending down shoveling in front of it, crashed the fencing and herself right into my head somehow, then just perched on top of the gate looking at me. Then Snap, one of the daughters of Cider that I hatched, came flying over later while I was trying to open a new feed bag, landed on my arm, and we spent some time just staring at each other until I had to put her down to open the bag. She's really pretty, I do like the light brahma/buff orp sex link cross. She's a good girl.
