I think we need to set up a poultry taxi across the state .  I could do Albany/Schoharie to Canajoharie.  We could do egg/chick/adult trades and sales from all over if we could get enough people to do manageable sections on specific dates.

Sort of how they arrange transport for rescue dogs.

I'm in.. I cant provide transportation but I have chickens. I'm in Duanesburg.

So, anybody have a good name for the son of Honey? I sold him as a pullet to a neighbor a while ago along with some his sister, his half brother, and some actual pullets. Turns out he was a really late bloomer and now he's back here. So far he's taking after his daddy and has good temperament so he may stick around.

My roosters name is Trespasers Will. It's short for Trespasers William. it's from Whinni the Pooh. The sigh over piglets door? Reeds Trespasers will. He said it was his grandfathers name and his grandma called him TW for short . The name Honey just reminded me of Whinni the Pooh and my rosters name

Desiree, do you want some JG eggs to set? They have not been separated into a breeding pen yet, so may be pure JG or JG/blue marans mix. I have 5 JG hens and a late fall pullet that came with the flock as a chick. They are giving me 1 or 2 large to jumbo eggs a day. I wanted to wait a couple of months before starting to hatch so I can get more pens built before they need to go outside.

I would love that!!! Idk what a blue maran is ill look it up do you want to barter something? Or I can pay you. When my hens start laying again I have some cool breeds. I'm limited on Roos. But this year I ordered NN, Pheonix, roos. BLRW, SL Chocin (straight rn) so next year ill have more diversity.

This was one of those awful cold and windy days when I just shoved him out of the coop onto the ice so I could take his picture. You can bet he hustled right back in as soon as I got out of his way

thank you you so much!! Ill take 4 JG and if your willing ill take 2 dark eggs and 2 EE eggs.. My 9 y/o son had a EE that we lost and he has been trying to replace her. We can't find one that looked like her. Where are you? I'm in duanesburg

Hey Rancher,now about these? They made their own pond... The only difference between geese, ducks & chickens, is unlike chickens, waterfowl have to be able to dunk their heads in water at least once a day to clear out their nasal passages. Oh yeah, and their poop is really wet, so you go through a lot of bedding. But, on the other hand, when there is grass, they don't eat anything else, they are good foragers and so I'm told, as long as they have access to grass or pasture, you can go through the whole summer without supplementing their feed. Unfortunately, they have a laying season, so don't lay eggs all year, but there are some breeds that lay almost 3/4 of the year. That's why I got Cayugas, they say they are one of the best layers. Time will tell...

GORGEOUS SEBASTOPOLS! I am drooling LOL. I have always wanted sebbies but i already have ducks and i am in the mindset that it is bad to mix the extreme sizings

Ugh it's awful! I can't sleep at night because I have this constant "lump in my throat" feeling, like I've got a pill stuck or something. LOL I cough, my eyes water, I hate it. and we're leaving tomorrow, this should be fun! "Hi!!! How, (cough cough) are you?!? It's so nice to (cough cough) see you!"


I don't know who came up with the "fact" that a duck's quack doesn't echo...but I'm about to prove them wrong! These ladies are so loud in the morning and get so excited to come outside. When I walk away they let out these loud quacks, almost like they're saying "Thanks for letting us out Mama!" and it definitely echos thru the valley here. LOL

I remember Myth Busters found the answer. I forget what the outcome was.

Well I haven't gotten any eggs for 4 days now. I thought they would start picking up by now with the longer days, what free loaders!
Seriously thinking about adding in some golden comets and black queens this year. Although I swore I wouldn't buy any chicks this year.
