NY chicken lover!!!!

I got an egg!!!! :ya :celebrate :weee Sure, it was frozen and cracked, and sure, I accidentally leaned over with it in my pocket when taking care of the chicks and crushed it, but I got a big white egg, my first one in months. One of the leghorns is a good girl.

Also, today I heard a ruckus from the guineas and ran over to the door to investigate. Hawk attack? Nope. They were just extra pleased with themselves for flying out of a run and into a tree. They celebrated for a few minutes, then flew back to the run. Who knows.

What did you find to be the most challenging with your rescue? Good for you to take that challenge on as well. This pup tends to get over-the-top hyper with my older dog. He is not too excited about a new friend...at least not yet. Also, her bladder control is not great. She makes it outside most of the time, and we take her frequently, but some time she will only have been inside a half hour and pees. That's a bit worrisome. Last night she whined to go outside around midnight. I took her out ASAP and she had the squirts. So she was very good to let us know she needed OUT....a big mess avoided. Today her tummy is fine.

The hardest part and what still is the hardest part is the separation anxiety. Luckily we have another dog who helps control it but if we have to separate them for any reason it's a disaster and very stressful. He gets very over the top hyper as well and has some bladder issues if you don't let him out regularly. He spent the first year and a half of his life locked in a crate in a kitchen so wasn't socialized very well. He's a border collie mix and uses his mouth way too much because he never learned that mouthing isn't the proper way to get attention. Due to the lack of socialization he is also fearful of a lot of things. If something falls behind him he FREAKS out and hides. He's a work in progress even a year and a half later...

Well we are refinancing the house to 15 year loan cuts 55k in intrust. Going to try and pay off within 6 years then sell cheap for a down payment on another house.

Sadly we are putting our rescue dog down tomorrow. He's growled at my son when he was trying to get food out of sons backpack. Then today he lunged at sons face as my son went to get the bannana bread from the dog. Bread was on stove and dog bowl is always full. Busted sons gums and i hear a tooth hit under eye but not bleding there. The dog has had problems and we have fixed a few but i wont stand for any dog biting a kid and i wont chane it in someone elses house.

We are working on an order for ducks from Metzers now. My eye is on Blue Swedish. Might as well considering how wet it gets here. The chickens don't mind, figure the ducks will love it.
Thats where i'm going to order my black runner hatching eggs. Going to wait for the easter hatch along and just have them hatch a day or two early so i can carry them around on easter.

Anyone interested in a quad of porcelain silkies from CJ lines? I'm picking up a trio in Albany this weekend and she would rather sell to someone local than have ship them.

You are making the right decision to get rid of that dog. We got a dog from the pound once and it was nuts. I offered it for free in the paper and it went to a better home. I would have sold it "per pound". We had the dog for a few months, went to obedience classes and it was obedient but it just never stopped moving, the more attention it got, the more it wanted. The final straw was when my little boy was trying to play catch with the dog in the yard and the dog started humping my son. Dog was in a kennel about 2 hours later and never came back to my house. It wasn't mean, but if it was I would've put it down. Once the dog was gone, it was such a relief for us. Nobody missed it at all. I feel so bad for your little boy. My first ex-husband had a very mean dog, it bit people, and it bit a little girl. It was a bad dog and he should've put it down. It terrorized a lot of people. It came after me once and I nearly broke it's neck. It didn't attack me again, but it could never be trusted. I will pray that your little boy heals ok, and is better soon.
