Lynzi, New Hampshire might be closer to those locations, AND that state has no income tax OR sales tax. It does have property tax, but isn't the state motto Live Free or die? Seems like chickens would be welcome, of the winged variety at least.

Been extremely busy with the garden and animals can't wait to start canning have 3 boil bath pots and a pressure canner so should go quickly this year.
Getting some lambs tomorrow hoping they are as friendly as the goats. I love the goats they are so loving and friendly.

Can I suggest a smaller pot for canning Jams and Jelly sized jars. I have two now. One for quarts and one for jelly jars. Much less water used.

Don't have a pressure cooker yet.

Time Warner all hooked up but have to figure how to set this remote for the OLD tv. Plus hook up the vcr to it too. He didn't leave a remote for both Tv's.

Another chick today, Marans. Put with Sussex hen. I really like the size of the Sussex. A few more days and all eggs will be pulled. The hens peck hard or I would pull the newer eggs now.

I haven't asked yet only because I have asked others and I was immediately turned away. Right now I'm looking for the right property with the right amount of land and good schools of course. I caught a good vibe with this woman and she's had two horrible tenants in the past. She's hoping this third time is a charm. I'd want her to meet us first and THEN being up the chicken thing to her. This way she gets a vibe of what kind of people we are, I already informed her we may be interested in purchasing the house since it's for sale OR for rent(we just can't buy right now with the job situation). So knowing there is 2.5 acres and she wouldn't care if we cleared out some more land cuz it is mostly wooded-I don't see chickens being a problem. Still tho, she informed me there are two other applicants and I don't want to blow my chances of losing it.

Glass - we have come across some properties in Nh and we do have some saved that we will more than likely go see next Saturday/Sunday.

We had power out for almost two days - thankfully we have a generator.. chicks are doing well here - out of 18 chicks hatched looks like only four hens - ugh!

Sizzle chick number 3 has hatched:

It's drying out now, a little blue chick. Which is making rethink the hen it came from. I thought it came from my splash hen that is out of Catdance lines but splash x splash makes more splash. Where as blue x splash make more blue and splash. So it may have come from my blue hen??

Evening all,
Well it's official, DH signed his offer letter today and we are moving to MA. Well, actually I'm finding a lot of houses on the very top east corner of CT that are in our price range and have the land we want. It will be a hour commute for him but he's ok with that. He interviewed for a job in Binghamton up here and that would have been an hour. So we may end up living back in CT. I hope I can still come here to the NY thread and chat with you all even though I won't be a "NY'er".  I'm upset, stressed, and a little excited all at the same time. I just hope we can find something that will allow me to have my cheeps back with me. If not, I'll be looking to rent short term and buy within the next year so that I CAN have them back. ke5hde and his wife have been so kind as to take care of them for me until I can come back to get them. That was a huge relief for me because I really am not ready to give them up. It's also nice knowing that someone who already knows about chickens will taking care of them.
these next few weeks are going to get busy very quickly. I probably won't be on much. I'm still waiting for 4 more eggs to hatch! Geez, hope I don't forget about them! Hope everyone is well!!!

DH and are talking about raising other animals for meat again now too. I got permission to build a permenant pen for turkey's. And if I could find a feeder pig for under $50 I'd pick it up. I'm also sort of watching for a pair of goat or sheep.

Morning all. Still missing my Little Man crowing in the morning. The red boys are starting to crow more, except for Clyde. He is a chill rooster. The move to the big coop with the terrorists has been okay so far. The girls get picked on a bit but not terribly. Clyde is not quite big enough or confident enough to challenge the ladies when they give him grief. I had to lay down the law with a few pecks last night on the ladies at roost time to make sure they understood who was still boss and that pecking the newbies was unacceptable. They straightened up right quick. I spent yesterday cleaning and permethryining down the coop Little Man was in and added the last bag of pine needles to the run. Put his children out there yesterday afternoon. They huddled in the corner for a bit before exploring their new house. I was greeted with some chirps this morning. His one son reminds me of him in mannerism and he is getting some nice light blue coloring from his momma. I will let them out later when I leave for work. Hopefully they will go back inside on their own at roost time cause I wont fit in the run to get them in!!! Still have to clean out the other two coops. My two silkie chicks in the brooder are just gorgeous. I wish more had hatched out. I think these two may be pullets but as you know , you never know with silkies.

My finger is healing albeit slowly. My knee is still painful and I suspect that it will remain so. The xrays had shown significant osteo arthritis. I will just learn to live with it.

Rancher--glad to hear that you and dw are okay and damage is minimal. We were all worried.
