NY chicken lover!!!!

I think we have 3 boy ducks ...their voices are soft & husky .should you be able to tell at 2 months ?
Are they mature now ?
So giving them baby food is okay ? as they wont be laying ...

Glad to hear you are okay ...
With one box ...depending on how it is hooked up .
You will either get only some channels ( does it have a separate line coming in ? )
or a copy of what is on the 1st TV that is hooked up to the converter ( or is it sharing the line ?)
I'm not sure. The one TV has a line into the house, the other with the box doesn't. At least I can't see one.

Yes on the ducks. If they were females they would be quacking quite loudly by now unless they are muscovies.

Lost 2 of my new chicks already. They spent 3 days in the mail, and we lost one last night around 2 am, and the other one was gone by 8 am this morning. Have another one thats not looking good. Pretty ****** off that the post office left them in the wrong state for 2 days. Hope the rest of them turn out ok.

So sorry..:(... Hope you plan on contacting the hatchery.

DH and are talking about raising other animals for meat again now too. I got permission to build a permenant pen for turkey's. And if I could find a feeder pig for under $50 I'd pick it up. I'm also sort of watching for a pair of goat or sheep.

Around here where I live you aren't going to find a pig that cheap they are $80 - $100 and that's if you can find one due to the disease that was killing the piglets. I am getting some to eat and some to breed them when they get older. I did get my sheep and love them they are not for eating they will be bred and eventually milked now mag eventually eat some of the males but for now they are breeding stock same as the goats they are breeding stock for their milk. I have 9 goats so far totally love them.

Plans for the day anyone?  You know , work in garden, do yard work, clean coops, (country max will have shavings on sale.  $4.90, next week end)  I wish they had Nobles, they're the best.
There is a vender at the Regional Market that has flowering perennials for $3. Small is better when planting perennials. They take better with less stress to the plant. I'm planting them around to attract honey bees. Just planted a Joe Pye Weed, in the corner of my veggie garden.

The Lavender Festival is going on and an antique show in Skaneatles.  DW is not doing good right now so it's a not go for us.  Her leg hurt all night and she was moaning and whimpering all night.  Too she can't be around a lot of people with her immune system being compromised.

Prayers being said for the wife. My plans for the rest of the day are I think to crochet did go get my sheep came home cleaned and did laundry now am tired and think it is time to relax

Afternoon all. Boy did it get hot and humid today. Supposed to be worse the next few days. I opened the pop door on the juvenile silkies coop and they were suspiciously eyeing the ramp when I left for work. When I got home they were all out in the run having a good time. I closed up all the windows and put the ac on.

Elroddo--I am sorry to hear about your chicks. I hope you contact the hatchery and voice your displeasure over what happened. Are you giving them electrolytes? I hope the rest make it.

Lynzi--congrats on your hatch! It wont hurt to lock down a little early. I have done that by accident and it worked out (just not this year!).

Rancher--maybe one of those pesky broodies would be willing to hatch out frenchies eggs. Im sorry to hear of DWs pain and discomfort. Prayers to her for healing.

Have to sew the buttons on my daughters sweater and its done. Started my nephews afghan and am already hitting a learning curve. Now I know how to change colors correctly. I am working on the meaning of the next task in this undertaking. Keeping the old brain exercised thats for sure! Sometimes I have to ponder on it for a day or two before I finally get it. Being both teacher and student at the same time can be vexing to onesself!

Making jam tomorrow morning before it gets beastly. Blackberries arent ready to pick yet at the local farm stand. Might make and can up some venison stew later in the week. I like knowing that what I am eating. Tastes better that the stuff in the store too. Trying to stock the larder for winter to cut down on the food bill. You should have seen my pharmacist's face when I showed her the jar of canned chicken I brought for my daughter. I thought she was going to turn green and hurl! I laughed at her, especially when she told me how disgusting it looked. My daughter told her that it might look disgusting, but it tastes fabulous! Cant wait till the monsters are ready to can.

Okay, time to do something, like dishes, and sew those buttons on. I will take a pic and post it when I am done. Not to brag. Just to show you what I learned how to do.

I had them on electrolytes as soon as I got them. my 4 golden laced wyandottes are doing fine, but the columbians only ones doing really well. Hatchery is going to get a call, and I'm not using them again. ordered twice, both times chicks got stuck in cleveland and only got out because I spent hours on the phone trying to get them home. Now I want to find a local place where i can get different types of wyandottes if anyone knows a place. Really want columbians and blue laced.

We had the same problem this week. I ordered a couple Exchequer leghorns and a couple browns. They shipped on Monday, Tuesday they were ready for pickup in Cleveland!? Nobody knew why they didn't get sent on to Rochester. They finally showed up here Thursday with one dead.

So sorry about the chicks. I hope the others perk up!

Sizzle chick number 3 has hatched:

It's drying out now, a little blue chick. Which is making rethink the hen it came from. I thought it came from my splash hen that is out of Catdance lines but splash x splash makes more splash. Where as blue x splash make more blue and splash. So it may have come from my blue hen??
Congratulations! Great hatch!
