NY chicken lover!!!!

I missed my regular egg customer on Thursday. He takes 9 dozen every week. I had to pick up the baby from my parents and got back later than expected. I'm so disappointed. I have 16 dozen in my frig and 3 days worth yet to wash. Anyone know of anyone wanting to buy eggs?

If anyone notices any job postings in the biology field or quality control/assurance in the central NY area please let me know. I'm job hunting and haven't had much luck.
I've been giving eggs to friends who stop by. My Ukrainian friend hasn't called nor returned my calls. She was taking all I had. I don't know what happened.

I've got young ones to give a way. I've decided not to keep any of them. If anyone has a mind to take them come and get them. Some are roos of course but not all.

One of Frenchy's has a sagging crop. She seems fine otherwise. I'm sure she's a she. One is also a Auraucana. All are black or black and red. EE's. I also have some roos one Marans and one Del. gotta go.

Are you just looking for another job?

How much for the eggs? We may be able to use some. We are getting 1 egg a day, small, from chicken nugget the silkie cochin cross. Probably about 8 would make an omlette. LOL.

JLaw. I will be at that fair on Tues for the poultry show! My kids are switching back to chaut. Co for 4h next year. We had gone to catt co bc my husband worked for extension over there but his position was eliminated so no reason to stay. I agree with you on the market birds. I'm glad you are willing to speak up
I forgot to talk to the leader today but I did watch people and it seemed the meat birds didn't deter them at all. Most didn't really look at them though you could tell they didn't like them much so maybe them out front is only way people will walk to see them. We all love the buff orpingtons and man are they huge. The RIR's are huge also nice and dark almost black looking.

There you are. I was wondering where you went.
I've just been bumming around the house some haven't been online much really.

Yeah!!!! The Chautauqua County Fair starts today! Wishing my niece good luck showing her cows:) I love the fair!! Mainly the barns and animals:)
We watched some of the cow showings today and I have to say I feel sorry for those kids. One girl had a hard time and she was breaking down as she was walking her cow back from the ring to the barn. The cow wouldn't listen at all and was just moving her everywhere by moving its head. We saw it as we was on our way to the ring. Then as we sat there they brought out the meat steers and I noticed an unruly one and it was her as her dad walked it to the ring. She showed it and won first so was glad she did after all she went through with those two cows.

I will never show cows I can tell you that much. We are thinking of doing rabbits next year. We are looking at some english/mini/holland lops and some mini rexes I think that's how they are spelled. I'm looking into a different breed for myself though I just cant remember the name.

Tomorrow kids do showmanship at 10 am.

Could you deliver them to them ??
The chickens I bought from you when do they mature ?
I suspect they are not laying yet as their body shape says they are still growing ( they look like that awkward teen stage - long legs skinny body )

We'll be there for showmanship. I can't wait to see what breeds are there to compare what I have

A friend of mine says that he has a trio of muscovys to sell. Any one interested? I'll find out the details if there is any one interested.

It looks like the little chick that could may have spraddle leg or there is something more wrong. It is getting around okay, but not that great. So I put a band aid on it's leg to give that a try. Man did it hate it, but it is already standing better. When I put it in the brooder it flipped out and fell on it's back, I waited to see what would happen and it flipped itself back over and stood back up so hoping that it'll fix itself and in the morning. Just check it again and it was sleeping in the corner snuggled up with Speedy (the first chick that hatched)

My silkie and my frizzle are definitly broody girls. I gave them a few eggs each. I think that after that, I'm done with hatching for the year. If I don't put my foot down to myself I'll keep going and DH has tolerated me so far and I don't want to push my luck. His rule of 2 seems to be flowing over to the chickens. He says two and that is it!..2 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats..All my chicks have been hatching in groups of 2. Rosita hatched 2, Peepers hatched 2, I had 2 hatch in the bator, now I have 2 more in the bator due to hatch any day now. Hope they both hatch and continue the trend.

Caught another raccoon last night. That trap has been set but empty since the last one we caught. And this one was much bigger than the last.

I have my trio of Orps and two runner ducks up for grabs if anyone is interested. That's the last of what's left I've decided to part with before this move. The ducks are friendlier than most runners because my kids have handling them since day one. So they don't run as fast as the others did I had to get away from you. My kids still pick them up to this day.

Off to pack some more! Hope everyone is well!
