NY chicken lover!!!!

Congrats on your wins :) wish I could have met you all. it WAS chilly! I ended up with a green sweater not a purple shirt after spilling my coffee all down the front B$ even getting out the door. I had the only Orloff there and so they won their little non APA thing. Did get to meet some others from the USA & Canada Orloff Club and got to take a extra RO rooster home a member gave me. Was a lot of fun! Heres a pic of my best boy I took, mama's baby.
Believe it or not, we did meet and didn't even know it :) I was talking to you when you were waiting for the judge to show up. I had a brown Carhart jacket and a black beanie hat on that said B&B Albany Pallet. You've got very nice Orloffs.

Could I ask where fellow New Yorkers go to get Breeder Quality chickens? I'm very happy with McMurray as our hatchery-order place (love the option of two vaccinations for $.38!) but would love some big, fluffy, eye-candy birds in the mix--preferably Orpingtons & Wyandottes. I've really tried hunting around for local NY breeders, but they seem few and far between--the Midwest and Texas seem to be where it's at!

long island ..wow ..i no folks raise pigons on the roof tops there but had no idea you could have chickens ..
welcome to byc.
I was shocked when I read a article in the NY Times about the number of rooster calls the NYPD gets a year, it was more than a hundred. Roosters are not allowed, but hens are. They can have chickens in NYC!! But NOT in many of the small towns in rural, red-neck backwoods farmland upstate NY???

Hello. Checking in from Long Island NY.

Welcome PoPo!

The more the merrier, here, but for stuff local to you, there is (used to be, anyway) a "downstate" NY thread going on BYC. That might be a good thread to follow if you are interested in swaps, etc., closer to your neck of the woods.

What kind of birds do you have?

How many birds were there? If you had the only Orloff does that mean yours was the only one entered?
