NY chicken lover!!!!

Well I had to modify my chicken feeder ...It was too low to the ground ...they kept kicking up bedding / poop in the dishes ..
And it had a little place underneath where the food got stuck under from splatter & spoiled / molded ...
Wasted .....couldnt let them eat it when I found it .
so I put some legs on it
They can still kick stuff in it but a lot less ..LOL

Could I ask where fellow New Yorkers go to get Breeder Quality chickens? I'm very happy with McMurray as our hatchery-order place (love the option of two vaccinations for $.38!) but would love some big, fluffy, eye-candy birds in the mix--preferably Orpingtons & Wyandottes. I've really tried hunting around for local NY breeders, but they seem few and far between--the Midwest and Texas seem to be where it's at!

Tab has some Wyandettes ....she should be hatching in the spring ..I may take a road trip up there then ....near Rome ..
I am looking for a hen ..

It looks like poke weed, google that and see if it's a match. My memory is not clear, but I think it is one of those plants that parts are edible and other parts aren't. Wasn't there a song with the words Poke salad Annie...where is Stony when we need him?

Just googled it, and it is pokeweed. The plant, leaves, stems and roots are poisonous to humans, the berries have a much lower concentration, and a vast number of animals and especially birds love the berries. Poke salad is the leaves very early in the spring, but sounds dangerous to me. Nice article on a site Georgia wildlife.
