NY chicken lover!!!!

Sorry for your loss and Thanks for the warning/advice. It seems there has been a lot of loss for people this spring. I had my first. Ever dead chicks in shipping, a horrible first hatch, and one that did hatch passed today ( although I was expecting it). We processed some extra roos today, always makes me cry. Saw the Hawks today too. Hope they move on before they take more of my flock. If your interested I have some sulmtalers.
Thank you. I appreciate the offer for sulmtalers...I should be okay at this point unless i freakishly damage any more. i am sorry for your loss as well. I had frozen chicks too~made me sick. I can absolutely commisserate on your bad hatches...especially when it's something you really really really want to hatch. I haven't figured out the hatching thing either...3 incubators and i have been between a zero and 100% hatch rate...100% on mailed eggs!!!

I hope the hawks find some nice field mice to keep them occuppied...

@rancher hicks Those little frizzles are looking lovely! I have never seen them in this color pattern before!

Are these guys D over EE or pure D? They are all growing out like Delawares

The cornish over EE are huge! They have that EE face, but are built like cornish

another really nice frizzle - there are 4 total I believe

One of the smaller frizzles

This roo will make an amazing flock guardian... He was defending everyone from my evil hand when I put temporary bands on the crew yesterday! Bites hard for such a little guy, but he's docile as soon as he realizes that you aren't there to hurt anyone

My only brown frizzle - shy little girl, but snuck up next to me to sleep...

another one of those nice corninsh over EE

This little girl was all about saying hello...

I adore these little guys!!!

@Purpletie3 - I have had equally bad shipped hatches this year - they develop well, but the air cells never reattach - I'm also doing some of the more difficult to hatch species, which doesn't help. The ones that were fine as far as air cells didn't develop at all. My last batch in were packed really well, but took a monstrous hit somewhere in transit. They are getting babied during incubation, since their air cells failed to fix. I'm really hoping they will do OK - I'm excited about this bunch... My incubators are better than last year, and my shipped stuff goes into the top of the line one, but my hatch rate last year was a lot better.. Frustrating, because it's time to concentrate on hatching for the business, and I don't have space to hatch more fun stuff at the moment!

Thanks for your post...I slept very little last night. I was thinking of using that foam board this winter~great info!

...Do we have a thread on here...Like 50 ways to kill your chicken by accident...

It wasn't the foam insulation. It was my stupidity for not having covered it with plywood or similar thing.

As it is I just stapled some cardboard over it. I've since lowered the roost. I've used it in the lower parts but that I'd covered with plywood. I didn't think they'd be able to reach it so high up but I was wrong.

We've ordered a new garage door and I made sure to pay the extra and have steel on both sides.

If it can be pecked, chickens will peck it.

But in Green. I hope it looks as nice as this picture does. We ordered it with "Senke" a local family owned business. Cheaper than HD too. If you have need of doors you'd do well to call them. I think it's owned by women too. I'm not a woman of course but I tend to patronize a woman owned business if I can. I have three daughters.

That's a sharp door! I had no plans of covering it...so, you saved some chicks today!

Just wanted to share these pictures of my ayam cemani cock and his hens. Please excuse the clutter - it was after winter clean up day and you all know how that goes :p

He is such a handsome guy! I'm can't wait to buy some eggs from you once he gets going!!
And boy do I know the dreaded spring cleanup!! You have no idea how many times I've looked at the yard and thought:
1. "There's NO WAY that grass is growing back"
And
2. "What is that thing and how on earth did it get into my backyard?!?!"
Biggest thing that surfaced so far was an entire rear cargo bay protector for a Subaru crossover... There aren't any Subarus anywhere near the property... It was halfway in the pond that the birds excavated....

Very nice, you will have to post pictures of the eggs. Are they special in some way? Like the Isbars that lay green eggs? PM me if you'll be selling hatching eggs.

Clutter? There is not clutter around this place.

It's so windy out there, cardboard blew all over. I'm not collecting it today.

It's too cold. When the snow melts all the garbage can be seen.

I will be selling, I'll send you a pm :) Not really special eggs, except they are huge compared to their body size. They are a light tan to cream color.
