NY chicken lover!!!!

Today is day 20 for my Blue Wheaten Ameraucana and BCM eggs. Both sets I purchased from breeders in Texas. I set 15 of each type. The Ameraucana eggs had 4 yokers and 2 early death by day 14. The BCM had 4 clear eggs by day 14 (very dark eggs and difficult to candle). I locked down 20 eggs on Sunday night. There is one external pip on a blue egg! My kids don't want to go to sleep (ok, I don't either).

I"m not sure how far a fox will travel. I would look for places they might den up.

I've been looking in to "hedge rows" and making them. It's an English thing.

I'm sorry for your loss.  I've taken to stapling another old pair of jeans to another tree and "marking" them.  It's not something I recommend the ladies do, but if there is a man in the house it's can't hurt and might help. ;)    As usual I'm very controversial. Most trail blazers are IMO.

DW called last night to say she lost a hen, to unknown reasons. I suspect to many roosters and my C. Rocks are very big.  I've been letting them out with all the others. She was an EE and like yourself I'm upset it was a hen.

I've posted the C.Rock roosters on CL but only one person responded but not enough interest I guess.

I hope DD doesn't lose anymore. I can deal with things when I get back. It's only been a week today that I've been gone.

I'm anxious to share what I've been reading in the 1973 Issue of Mother Earth.  How many here were born AFTER 1973?

They only have a lap top at the house and it's hard to type on.
I was born in dec of 1973

I like wind chimes to hang for birds of prey avoidance
Heres a new wind toy I found .. a eagle kite

Wow, 6 dozen!  What did ya get?  I saw that my Rhubarb is up but I don't think my asparagus has popped through yet.

I brought home cream crested legbars, BBS cochin large fowl, 3 eggs from mottled cochin large fowl, blue wheaten ameraucana, and 1 dozen each of my OE and golden cuckoo marans. I loaded 91 eggs in the bator yesterday after collecting more of mine BLRW, maran, and frizzle OE.

My asparagus, rhubarb, raspberries, and greens are up. I planted broccoli and cauliflower too. One bed of asparagus isn't looking good, looks like a mole went digging through it.

Hey folks...chick question.

Some of my chicks hatched (almost a month ago) with some patches of down missing. I figured it was from the hatch and they'd fluff up fine. Well they fluffed up, but the patches remained. On one or two, pretty much the entire back is naked.

Now that they are feathering, I'm noticing that they're still not sprouting feathers in those patches.

What the heck is wrong with them? Why are they naked? And what does this mean for bringing them outside?

Hey guys, I'm new here. I live just outside of Watertown on the lake

. I currently have 2 Ameracauna hens, 1 RSL hen, 4 Pekin ducks, 2 Buff Oprington pullets, 6 Golden Comet Pullets, 2 Cornish X's, 2 Silkie Bantam cockerels, 1 Silkie Bantam pullet, an Ameracauna pullet and 5 Ameracauna cockerels. the 3 hens and 2 of the ducks are a year old, and everything but the Ameracaunas are almost 9 weeks, while they are 6 weeks. Would anyone be interested in swapping for some Ameracauna cockerels in the near future? lol
