NY chicken lover!!!!

It's helpful to have your general location near your avatar. Rest assured no one will come looking for you.
Sorry if this seemed short. I'm at the public library and family was saying "it's time to go".

Anyhow it's helpful for us to know where folks are generally located so we can have a idea, if we decide to make a connection.

Going fox hunting in the next few days!..Lost yet another one of my ducks to that bugger

..I'm sure that is what took it..I don't think that I would be as mad if it took one of the drakes, but it has taken 2 of my girls and now the boys out number the girls and they are getting the crap beat out of them by these boys...Guess I'm going to have to get rid of some of these boys a little sooner then I thought. I Should have gotten the bigger incubator!! Need to get cracking on hatching...

Went for a search and recovery mission this afternoon. I walked all around our 5 acres and about 5+more of the fields behind the house and didn't find any sign till I was on my way back to the path to our property..I prayed for a sign...something to show me that she was truly gone....Just out of the corner of my eye I found a feather in the woods in the back of our property...about 20 feet from the yard..Under a tree there were a few small bunches of feathers..Those few feathers are all that are left of my 2 girls.

..It is so on now!!!!

I"m not sure how far a fox will travel. I would look for places they might den up.

I've been looking in to "hedge rows" and making them. It's an English thing.

I'm sorry for your loss. I've taken to stapling another old pair of jeans to another tree and "marking" them. It's not something I recommend the ladies do, but if there is a man in the house it's can't hurt and might help.

As usual I'm very controversial. Most trail blazers are IMO.

DW called last night to say she lost a hen, to unknown reasons. I suspect to many roosters and my C. Rocks are very big. I've been letting them out with all the others. She was an EE and like yourself I'm upset it was a hen.

I've posted the C.Rock roosters on CL but only one person responded but not enough interest I guess.

I hope DD doesn't lose anymore. I can deal with things when I get back. It's only been a week today that I've been gone.

I'm anxious to share what I've been reading in the 1973 Issue of Mother Earth. How many here were born AFTER 1973?

They only have a lap top at the house and it's hard to type on.

That area looks like a great place to set up a wire snare. If you don't have any of your own animals that could get caught in it, I would set one up with some meat as bait...

Lap, thanks for the map! I love maps, and this will be a helpful one to help me obsess about health issues. Starlings went into the chicken pen this morning. The girls were more hospitable than I thought they should be.

Well I came home from the NH chickenstock with 6 dozen eggs (2 of them mine though). DH fired up the frigabator this morning because it's the only bator big enough to fit them all. He kept telling me we need another breed like a hole in the head, insert sinister giggle here.

I'm going to get the girls outside today and check out my gardens. Hopefully the raspberries are sending new shoots, rhubarb should be doing something, asparagus too, and I planted greens a couple weeks ago. I picked up broccoli and cauliflower packs friday too. Yay for sunshine!

Wow, 6 dozen! What did ya get? I saw that my Rhubarb is up but I don't think my asparagus has popped through yet.
