NY chicken lover!!!!

I am missing home all this talk of gardening and all .

DD had her girl. It was touch and go for a bit but both are well. Strange as it may sound but my SIL 's mothers name is the same as DW's. So that is my new granddaughters middle name.
Congrats on the new grand baby!! Make sure to give her some love from her extended NY Chicken Family

Congratulations on your new granddaughter!!!!!!

Sorry if this seemed short. I'm at the public library and family was saying "it's time to go".

Anyhow it's helpful for us to know where folks are generally located so we can have a idea, if we decide to make a connection. ;)

It's ok! :D
I don't know if you know yet but I put my location up... I don't know if it's showing up can you see it?
:)

I don't remember who it was but someone had silver Phoenix. I bought 6 chicks but we had a hawk in the weeks following chickenstock and most of my chicks and some of my other birds became hawk food. We have since moved and have a better setup. Was wondering if there are any silver Phoenix Roos available my son has been trying to find one for a couple years. I can't make it to chicken stock but hoping there will be other options. I'm looking into buying one from AZ (I think or AK) but was wondering about local options first. Thank you! :)

I do know that someone going to the NY Chickenstock this year, @ann p, had a pair of white phoenix she was looking to sell. Not sure if they are already spoken for but you could ask. They are also nine months old so probably laying so maybe you could ask her for eggs or chicks if the pair is already sold.

congrats to all of your family on the new baby!

Congrats on the new grandchild rancher!

Sorry I haven't been on my peeps. Between the little monsters, working weird schedules and gardening, I have been too tired to go online. That being said, I hope all of you are well and your cheeps are laying.

We moved out the little monsters last weekend because they outgrew their brooder. Despite the cool nights they are doing just fine. Dh got the run repaired so they were able to be let out yesterday. Of course we had to put them back in the coop by hand as they didn't go back in by themselves. At 6 weeks they aren't the brightest bunch. They are feathering out nicely though. Those who are getting reds from me will be pleased I think.

Dh and I were having dinner last night when I look at the kitchen door and see one of my red hens looking in. I'm like really??? I had just given them the spaghetti squash shells and seeds. She kept looking in the whole time we were eating and one of her sisters was pecking on the door. Dang chickens are pushy! I opened the door and told them to go eat their own food. I'm not sharing.

I am so looking forward to chickenstock. I do have a black pair of silkies available. Pm me if you are interested.

Time to get moving. Have to feed everyone before work. Be well my friends.

I've decided to attend Chickenstock and will bring the following:

Marans started chicks & eggs
Coronation chicks & eggs-chicks ranging from 2 months to week old.
Possible white Sebastapol goslings if I still have any
Light Sussex chicks & eggs
Maybe some Brabanter eggs and a chick or 2.

If anyone wants to reserve something, pm me
Three hens from Marquisella very happy with them, healthy, good layers, calm, and full of personality. Town limit is 3 hens or I would be getting another Maran !
Rancher grats on the new grand baby, I also choose a to name my son after family members. Don't fret to much about missing the garden we're off to slow dry start.

Roosters went to freezer camp today.

I have a hen with sour crop. Been working on her for a couple days. She acts like nothing is wrong except a big crop that isn't going away.
How old is she ? Have you tried giving her baking soda water to counter act the acid ..massaging her crop ?
Is she a older hen ?
My comet hen was 3 and she died ..I think it was her time ..

Has anyone ever had any issues with Salmonella?

Let me rephrase it...Has anyone ever had issues with salmonella with their own flock?
