NY chicken lover!!!!

Called SandHill today, they said still a few people ahead of me on the breeds I ordered. I asked about shipping to NY they said not a problem they put on the box their AI and NPIP info, and they were tested just last month.

Well, Ideal Poultry is making me nervous. I have someone who would like me to add a couple chicks onto my order for them that's coming in the week of the 17th, so I tried to go to their website to see what colors they had available in that breed. Website is down. Okay, I needed to call them anyway to get insurance on my order so let's just call and ask. Nope. Tried calling from three different phones. On my cell phone I just got a weird error message. On my desk phone at work it just disconnected the call immediately with no ringing. And on the other phone I just got dial tone. So I'm not liking that. Next up will be trying to email them, I guess.

I wonder if they have been quarantined? They are situated in Tx right??

Yep. But if so, they should still at least answer their phone when called :/

We have used Sluggo w good results. It's pelleted iron phosphate. Label says it's safe for pets & wildlife, tho it kinda looks like chicken food, so I'd keep it away fr them. Sprinkle it around ur garden late in the day & the slugs go away. We didn't use it last year & the slugs eliminated all our bean plants. Though I'm sure the lack of weeding didn't help either :p. This years gone be better, here's hoping. We've already been out there weeding a couple times, & DH mulched it this weekend.
seeing as chicken peck and eat slugs I'm learning of using chemicals. Too chickens eat bits of soil. Can I turn off this spell check?

I don't worry if I don't get all the weeds.

We didn't just miss a few weeds last year. It was like a jungle adventure every time we attempted a look through the weed patch. Attack of the giant zucchini was our best case scenario in finding veggies in there. We just let it go too long & lost control. Vowed to do a better job this year, but we'll see. Nothin like home grown veggies :)

Got an e-mail from Ideal today that said this:

"Ideal Poultry has had a transformer explode this morning. We are currently without power and phone service. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Had a NEAT visitor today

Kinda scared to look thought it was going to be a snake picture! It's cool wonder way she would lay so close to the chickens?
She is in the back part of my yard behind the garden fence
my chickens free range ..They were in my backyard making a ruckus ..I came out ...didnt know what they were complaining about .
An hour later I went to the back of the garden there she was .
They tell me about woodchucks , Deer , rabbits ...anything in the backyard or behind it
