NY chicken lover!!!!

We are up to three live chicks, she kicked out an egg before the first who hatched on Friday, then Sunday the second. She was not keeping #2 warm, so I shoved it under her, and int took a long time, but now it is lively. A third hatched, but did not make it, although mom has learned to keep them warm. She put the corpse out for me yesterday. Today there is a new little one who is doing great. She is still brooding 3 eggs, but is teaching the babies to eat as she broods. I think she is doing great, especially since she was one of the chicks from last year, don't know which hen raised her...

Down to one keet, ugh. I just have to assume at this point that it might actually be Ciel's first time with babies and she's not the world's best mother. Thank goodness Lacie is always sticking close. At this point if Ciel takes off somewhere and leaves the keet behind, and I already saw it happen several times today, it runs and hides under Lacie calling for its mother until Ciel comes back. I'm debating taking it from her, but it's old enough now that as long as Lacie is babysitting I think it will be fine.

Also got the Cemani pullets moved into the cemani flock. The Greenfire girls are larger than the TM girls, but that didn't stop the older hens from giving them the smackdown. The Greenfire pullets are gorgeous. I wish the lighting was better today for pictures, but this shows how dark they are:

First time I saw mulberry trees was at the Catskill Game Farm when I took my kids a year before they closed. They were all over dropping fruit, and I never saw them before or even knew we had them in NY state. Yup, just like blackberries. Very sad they closed, I remember going there when I was a kid. They said they didn't have a choice, went from many thousands of visitors to just hundreds. Biggest most awesomest 'zoo' I've ever been to, so many animals any other zoo couldn't compare. People just don't travel and visit and do vacations much anymore.
Edited to add; they were open for 73 years, very sad.
They closed? That is so sad...It was one of the places that I always wanted to take my kids too. I was just talking about it with my mom a few weeks ago...I remember going there 4 summers in a row. I loved that place!! Our first visit got cut short when I bit into a froze snickers bar and cracked a tooth in half...
