?   What do they look like grown up?

Greenfire Farms has them. I got my eggs from FL. They have crests, beards, feathered legs, and gold/black spangles. They lay medium to large sized off white eggs.

No, she's a pullet in the avatar picture. The dark red faded. She's mostly cream colored now.

Fun! From what I've read, Pavs sound like are really interesting breed!

I'm excited about them. My luck, and probably a genetic and breed-specific factor or two, have lead to only one Brabanter to hatch out of 18 incubated. I'm about to try 18 more. My Pavlovskaya rate is already 5/5. My Brabanter goals may end before summer rolls around. They are tough.

My two chickens who molted are getting their color back suddenly! They are also starting to squat for me again, hooray!! And sunshine TWO days in a row!! Another couple weeks and I'll get some of my garden seeds started, SPRING is coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have the answers yet. They're classified as ornamental I think, as are Brabanters and Spithauben? I could be wrong though. If left to their natural cycle, I think Brabanters would lay daily or every other day from April through August. They are not large birds. That's an understatement. Your Giants would probably be 3-4x the size of a Brabanter. However they lay large eggs. If provided with supplemental light, they lay every other day. They're cold hardy as both breeds were native to Russia and the Netherlands before their status became rare.
The rare status and feathering is why I'm working with them. I love how they look. The Pavlovskaya seem easier to work with so far.

I tried brabanters and gave up. It was my first year incubating so I'm sure there was considerable user error, but couldn't hatch any of the brabanter eggs I bought. It's how I discovered spitzhaubens bc the brabanter breeder also had spitzes. They sent eggs from both and several of the spitz eggs hatched. Determined, I sourced a few brabanter chicks but ended up giving them away (w full disclosure) as juvies bc they were either super flighty or sleeping, never anything between. They also had some strange anatomy issues including one w a scoliosis spine. They are beautiful and I'm glad there are good breeders out there working to improve the vitality of the breed, but they were very tough. Glad to read the Pavs are already easier! They look and sound like a truly stunning breed.

My chicks keep dying...it's so sad. I think maybe I'll just hatch my own from now on. I had 4 pass away last night and 2 more this morning. Their little bodies must not have been able to recover from the stress.

I'm hoping the rest pull through but one doesn't look so good. I'll be calling ideal on Monday.
