Speaking of pictures, here's a picture of the peafowl for you, Metella, since you were asking. They're older and bigger now, but you can see how they hatch with wing feathers.

Everyone got a full day of free range today and only once did one of the teen boys challenge "headmaster" King or second in command Golden Boy. I was super proud of both "men" . Both walked up thunked the teenage pest on the mellon and walked off calmly. At bed time all groups went to their own coop.

Now the question, do I give them a few more days ranging together and sleeping separate or move the teens tonight?

All depends, I've got a great joke about depends, can't say it here...Lol!
I've had great luck just throwing them all together, have you seen real animosity? Do you have like 'I'm going to kill them' roosters, or hens? If you don't see 'I want to kill you' in your flock, toss them together, I've never had a problem with doing that. As long as they are big enough to skit and skedaddle they should be fine.

Well im missing 2 of my chipmunk babies ..
Not sure if it happened yesterday when I was gone
or this morning before I let them out ..
The littles can sneak between the coops and out the main coop gate .
I had a small plastic fence on the bottom of the wire ..it didnt keep them in .
When I went out to let them out 3 of them were over in the main coop this morning..
Everyone was ignoring them
I f the flock attacked them wouldnt their be some remains ?
I think they went out of the main gate and something got them.?
I put up chicken wire on that wall today to prevent them from getting out again ....hopefully I will still have 6 in the morning

I haven't been on much in the last week. Just wanted to say welcome to the newbies, and sorry for those who have lost. Everything is still a go with our move. I'm officially past my due date, still no baby. I processed a bresse rooster the other week. It dressed out at over 5 lbs and was quite meaty for not being a frankenbird. Also the leg meat was not very dark, which I prefer it not dark. I have to say I am really impressed with the bresse.,

Anyone care to make a guess on my Cackle hatchery extra 'mystery chick'?
I was leaning partridge plymouth rock as a chick, but now that it's feathering out not sure. Seems pretty stocky, and I don't think lacing is right, and if it's a cockerel they don't have lacing on the feathers. Looks kinda black sexlinkish now, but not as a chick. I'd almost say possible dark cornish cause of it's stocky width but they don't have straight combs so can't be.... IDK?...

Hmmm - it didn't post.....looks like my double laced Barnevelders.
