NY chicken lover!!!!

deterrent
More than likey it wouldnt have made a difference ..what you snow blowed ..Once the Falcon spotted it ...it could have trapped it where ever ..

If you can create some hiding places that will shelter your birds and make them less visible from the air. Hang shiny objects from the coop or where ever you can.
May just be a coincidence,BUT

Their run is underneath an apple tree and shaded quite well,i was under the impression that I had pretty good cover.but mother nature has proven me wrong.
Cover is only a deterrent...no guarantee...if it is hungry it will find a way

we have a lot of hawks here in upstate NY.. my flock sees a shadow and they run for cover.. we have plenty of trees with low hanging branches... they are pretty good at running for cover.. luckily i havent lost any yet.. first time chicken mama here.. i'm always doing a head count.. :)

Mine are only suggestions. Lord knows even when we do our best those darn predators find a way to out fox us.

I did buy a cheap twirly thing at JoAnn fabrics a while back and hung it from the cloth pole in the picture. I reckon I should buy a few more and hang them around for good measure. It's been awhile since I've seen an aerial predator.
