I hear you. If I were to have one it would have to be inside a covered area like the chicken run. Or garage. A predator would make short work of it for sure. In the UK they're touting plastic coops, but I wonder how warm they are in the winter.  Plastic is a great conductor of heat and cold. Too plastic "off gases" and gets brittle. So are nothing beats a good wooden coop. Well my hoops are good but I do have to change the tarps each year.

I have a couple secondhand Eglus, I like using them for broody hens, introducing chicks to the outdoors and bachelor pad. I don't use them year round. In summer months I make sure they set where it is shaded in afternoon.

I'm in Maine - a small town between Ithaca and Binghamton. I sent a message to a few friends locally with hens and roosters.
I'd have to set next Wednesday at the very latest, if I can't set eggs then, I would wait until after spring break - April 24th.

I'm in Marathon and willing to donate. I have a mixed flock of LF. I'll start setting aside the good looking eggs. How many and when do you need them by? Hopefully this snow stops soon!

So? What do you do with your rabbits? Anyone have Angora's for hair? Do you eat them? Does someone process them for you? What about the pelts? I see a lot on CL and wonder what do people do with babies when they're born and why do they let the breed anyhow?
